Calvin Murphy makes his comeback on Sirius Radio Channel 122 in a big way with a fresh and new sports/comedy weekly radio/TV show scheduled to begin production at the Fox Sports Grille in Houston titled "Calvin and Me".
"When a ‘AVERAGE JOE’ SPORTS FAN who Dreams Big, gets his own RADIO/TV SHOW with some help from A ‘LEGENDARY ATHLETE’, that’s what you get with Calvin and Me!”.
The “ME” is Barry Donovan, (The Fan) and Vince DeLisi, (long time Fox Sports Drive LA Sportscaster.) Barry D. "The Super Fan" Brings the "FAN" aspect to the program. Not a "Pro!" loves all things Sports/Entertainment! An armchair quarterback! As offbeat as you can get. Sometimes called "Billy Crystal on Steroids” Barry views the world of sports in his "Own" unusual way. Barry knows Athletes’ Favorite Meals, Celebrity’s Relatives and Little Tidbits that even the most Diehard Fan would be impressed with. Vince “The Blue Blazer" DeLisi - A Pro Broadcaster." Vince gives his Sports/Ent. Update for all his fellow Pro's and runs the show. Vince knows his stuff and has translated this knowledge and love for Sports to Barry.
Every week, an Average Joe sports fanatic is selected from the studio audience to co-host the show along with Calvin, Barry and Vince. This unique show, with it's awesome blend of regular guests and it's strange cast of recurring segments such as "The Mouth" sports Guru, Sonny P. "The Book", Maria and Gina from Atlanta, The Old Timer, Big Floyd and Goliath, Frankie D. Barry's Mom and Mama Drexler to name a few, is sure to have fans and live audience rolling in the aisle.
Casting will begin for some of the local character segments within 60 days. "We are expecting to have at least 5 openings for local segment characters,” says Producer/Director Toni M. Kaufman. "This is a very different type of show” states Kaufman, “It's SNL meets The Best Damn Sports Show. It's fun and witty and Calvin gets to send Barry out on some crazy stunts just to see if a regular Fan can pull it off! The audience should get a big kick out of this fresh new idea."
The Fox Sports Grille located in the Galleria on Westheimer St in Houston will be host venue for local production scheduled to begin spring 2006.
The two-hour radio program will air weekly on Saturdays @ 1-3pm EST. There will be one rebroadcast during the week. The radio Show will air via Sirius Ch. 122/Sports ByLine, The American Forces Radio, iPod Webcast, Audiofeast, a Local Houston Affiliate, Streaming Video thru DigiCast and American Trans Airlines. A Thirty-Minute weekly syndicated Television program will be produced from the Radio Show footage and additional field segments to air on television at a later date.
Calvin Murphy, "Murph" brings the "legendary athlete" aspect to the program. Long known as one of the most loved sports celebrities in Houston, Calvin hangs on the set from the restaurant in Houston with Barry and Vince DeLisi. Calvin, a legend to all true sports fans was a famous Point Guard for the San Diego / Houston Rockets, who was known for his Slick Ball handling, Smooth "J" and awesome free throw shooting. A Niagara "Purple Eagle", Calvin put the Buffalo school on the map. An NBA Hall of Famer and National Baton Twirling Teenage Champion, Calvin is now known for his fast tongue and classy dressing, but... can he keep up with Barry D?
