Start May Like a Tiger with Cocoa Bootcamp, May 22-26, 2006

Course topics cover the spectrum of fundamentals and advanced topics in Cocoa programming: Objective-C, updating menus, printing and paginations, sheets, controls, custom views, and user defaults to higher level topics like XCode, Interface Builder, CoreData, OpenGL, frameworks, and NSTextView.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 17, 2006 -- Big Nerd Ranch, Inc., a leading provider of intensive classes for developers and systems administrators, announced the second offering of the cornerstone of its lineup of classes, Cocoa Bootcamp on Tiger 10.4. Proving once again that what is old is often new, this intensive, five day course on programming in Cocoa returns on the heels of the February class, which was the Big Nerd Ranch's best-selling class to date. The sell-out class offers the most exhaustive course on Cocoa Programming available, promising students not only an introduction to the fundamentals of coding in Cocoa, but guiding them through some of the most challenging advanced features of Tiger. Whether the student is a novice or has used Cocoa before and wants a deeper understanding, students will emerge from the class ready to put his or her newly found Cocoa coding talents to work.

Students attending the class should have some experience in Java or C++ programming in order to maximize their experience in the Bootcamp. The primary text of the class, Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X, was authored by course instructor, Aaron Hillegass, and provides the framework by which lessons are taught. Short lectures are immediately followed by programming sessions where students can immediately exercise these new principles. By the end of the five days, participants will be able to write complex applications for Mac OS X, demonstrate fluency in Objective-C, tap the potential of Interface Builder and Xcode and have a clear understanding of the design patterns inherent in Cocoa on Tiger 10.4.

"One of the most gratifying aspects about being an instructor is that moment when you see the light go on," commented Aaron Hillegass, Cocoa Bootcamp instructor. "Cocoa programming, especially on Tiger 10.4, lays bare a whole range of development possibilities in what I consider to be one of the most fluid, elegantly written languages available. Each new release of OS X brings with it new sets of tools that seem geared specifically to the needs of enhancing the programming experience to make it easier, more intuitive and efficient, and more importantly, fun. Interface Builder and bindings, for example, can completely revolutionize the way programmers approach application development and you can see that hum of excitement by the end of the Bootcamp, when students go back to their own milieu charged with a new level of passion for their work."

Students attending the class can expect an intensive curriculum matched by the energetic and engaging drive and commitment of the instructor, as pointed out in a recent review of the class on the blog, Desperate Pundit. desperatepundit.com.
