Poetry Podcast Lets Listeners Discover Inspiration through Unique Initiative

The Cloudy Day Art poetry podcast announces unique intiative to let listeners contribute interviews to the show. Listeners can now take an active part in promoting local poets to the world.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 17, 2006 -- Cloudy Day Art, the Washington, DC based poetry podcast, is pleased to announce its new field reporter initiative. The program is designed to partner listeners with the show by allowing them to contribute self-recorded audio interviews with poets from around the world.

“Listeners to the program can now have an active and participative part in the content of the show”, says Will Brown, the host of the weekly poetry interview and commentary podcast. “Cloudy Day Art seeks to inspire and be inspired by the ‘everyday poet’. These are people who love to write poetry, but don’t have a national stage. Cloudy Day Art wants to be that stage for them.”

I’ll start the show with the general news and announcements and then ‘throw’ to the field report. This is something quite new to podcasting and something that I’m very excited about.
Cloudy Day Art is accepting interviews between 7 and 20 minutes in length in MP3 format which, once received, will be spliced into the show as “field reports”. “It will work very much the same way that most news reports go”, says Brown. “I’ll start the show with the general news and announcements and then ‘throw’ to the field report. This is something quite new to podcasting and something that I’m very excited about.”

Podcasts have brought the poet and poem out of the dark corner of the coffee house to expose them to the general public like never before. Someone living in a farmhouse in Kansas is now able to listen and hear the inspirations of a quiet revolutionary poet delivering spoke word poetry to ten close friends at a bar in Queens.

“…and that is the point”, Brown continues. “I want one of those ten people sitting in that dark bar to have a recorder is his hand and just listening. Listening and sucking in the inspiration for the world to hear.”
