Offer for Independent Comic Artists to Publish Titles as Barefoot Mobile Comics on Nokia Series 60 Platform

Barefoot Software is now accepting submissions from Independent Comic Artists for a new service, www.s60comics.com that will allow Comic Books published on Barefoot Software’ mPublishing platform.

Hong Kong, (PRWEB) February 17, 2006 -- Barefoot Software Asia Limited [Barefoot], a leading mobile technology and application development and licensing company, today launches mComic v.1.9, a comic book viewing application that provides highly engaging and customised animated viewing for comic style content, on the Series 60 Platform. Developed by Nokia, Series 60 is the world’s leading Smartphone platform, with more than 48 million devices already in the market.

mComic enables Comic Artists the ability to provide their comic books or collection of comic strips/gags onto the Series 60 Smartphone platform.

mComic is free, and is now available for Series 60 Smartphone’s via an Internet and WAP Download as well as being distributed via MMC or any other forms of digital media distribution.

mComic user benefits include;
- Support for Manga and traditional Strip Comics.
- Display image plus include pop out bubbles for text display on these small screen devices.
- Zoom in and zoom out capability for an enhanced user experience.
- Automated handsfree viewing motion control through the frames and pages.
- Various support for language packs such as English, Chinese, German, Italian and French - More language supports will become available.
- Book Titles can be purchased directly over the Internet or WAP, and SMS request.

Some of the benefits for the Comic Artist;
- A direct sales model with a low cost for distribution.
- Operator and other distribution channels are also supported.
- A quick and low cost entry into the Mobile Services Market.
- Be an early entrant into this massive market and establish your brand.
- Barefoot provides the title publishing through to transaction and delivery.
- A transparent Digital Rights Management [DRM] system that will curb any piracy - Same purchased book cannot be opened on multiple user handsets.
Systems are in place for Artists who want to go it alone.

Barefoot Software is now accepting submissions from Independent Comic Artists for a new service, www.s60comics.com that will allow Comic Books to be purchased and delivered directly to Series 60 users.

Barefoot is seeking the submission of Comic content from artists to deliver Mobile Comic Books with the Barefoot mComic Series 60 viewing application. For the first 100 comic book submissions (maximum 10 pages per book), Barefoot will package and publish each comic book for US$50. Under the Barefoot Content Licensing Agreement, Barefoot and the Artist will enter into an equal revenue sharing arrangement.

Whilst providing a commercial Library of Comics on www.s60comics.com, Comic Artists who have been looking for commercial business models via the web have found that nine times out of 10, they have to give their work away for free – publishing and going mobile using mComic, Artists will be able to generate income from sales of their titles.
