Golf Tour of Greater Philadelphia Celebrates its Second Year and Welcomes New Members

The Golf Tour of Greater Philadelphia, a non-profit traveling golf league appealing to golfers of all abilities in the greater Delaware Valley, celebrates its second season in 2006.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) February 19, 2006 -- Based on the enormous success of its inaugural season, the Golf Tour of Greater Philadelphia (GTGP) is proud to announce its 2006 Tour schedule and membership information.

The GTGP is a locally-operated competitive "traveling tournament club" (as defined by the USGA) for golfers of all abilities. The club is distinguished by the quality and duration of our tour schedule and our unique season-long championship competition, which is modeled after the PGA Tour. Our classification as a non-profit organization keeps costs down, and our club organization ensures that all members have input in club operation. The result is competitive golf in a collegial atmosphere.

The Tour's 28-week season commences on Saturday, April 1st at Beechtree Golf Club in Aberdeen, MD. The Tour schedule includes tournaments at many of the Delaware Valley's best courses, including Pine Hill, Tattersall, Wyncote and Glen Mills. Although many tournaments are on Saturday mornings, the GTGP also includes events on several Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the season. Tournaments include different formats, including individual net and two-person competitions. In addition to competing for weekly prizes and season ending tour awards, club members have the opportunity to qualify for the season-ending Mason-Dixon Cup (vs. the Washington Wormburners club) and our GTGP Tour Championship.

Membership cost for the 2006 season is $125 ($100 if members plan to keep their handicap through another club). This cost provides members playing privileges for all events, except for those which require you to qualify (Mason-Dixon Cup and GTGP Tour Championship).
