Debt Advice Sought by More Women than Men
The Debt Help Site Annual UK Debt Survey 2006 shows the majority of people seeking professional debt advice are women.
(PRWEB) February 19, 2006 -- More women than men are seeking debt advice for serious financial problems, according to The Debt Help Site Annual UK Debt Survey 2006.
The survey shows that a majority of 51% of those in need of professional debt advice are women. Terry Galvin, editor of The Debt Help Site, is not surprised by the results, despite debt problems traditionally being associated with men.
Galvin says, "The survey shows roughly an even split between the sexes and that concurs with our experiences in providing debt advice over the last few years. Whereas in the past you would have expected serious debt to be more of a problem for the male population, it is just as big a problem for females now."
Galvin adds, "Credit card debt is a way of life for so many people now, male and female, and even in a marriage or partnership it is not uncommon for both the man and the woman to have their own personal credit cards or store cards."
"Also, there are more women with their own businesses than in the past, so more problems with debt, insolvency and bankruptcy arise from that," continues Galvin.
