Internet Radio Station Showcases Specialty Genres And The Nation's Music Scenes

BreakThru Radio provides 2 million listeners a week with the newest music.

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 21, 2006 -- BreakThru Radio (BTR) DJs have discovered after winning over hundreds of thousands of listeners with their unparalleled selection of music from unsigned and independent artists, has decided to give the people even more. Recently BTR launched a weekly series of specialty shows. Each shows offers an inside look into a particular sub-genre, region, label, or other musical phenomenon. Along with their expertise and insight, BTR DJs serve up a tantalizing sample of the unknown and the soon to be world renown.

While compiling BTR’s music library, the station’s DJs have explored new music scenes developing in cities such as Gainesville, Atlanta, Kansas City, San Francisco and Brooklyn -- to name a few. New genres and styles of music are developing in these cities and towns faster than the mainstream can keep up with. As they began to shine a light on some of these developing scenes, BTR DJs decided that a more in depth look was called for. No other station was doing it and, judging from the tidal wave of positive emails, people clearly wanted to hear it.

“One of the most exciting aspects of my job is finding a thriving music scene in a city, as well as realizing a genre of music is seeing an advancement and evolution,” said Ethan Kanat, BTR’s Program Director. “BTR has experienced a phenomenal growth as we reach 2 million listeners a week and we wanted to showcase what we believe to be the best music in the genres we play as well as the most vibrant music communities throughout the country.”

BTR launched their specialty show series with a spotlight on Arkain Records, an innovative record label that has helped turned Gainesville, FL into an indie rock hot spot. In addition, DJ RePete hosts the best in independent dance and electronica with Club Cavern. Future shows will include an in-depth look at experimental hip-hop, singer/songwriters and burgeoning scenes in cities such as Atlanta and San Francisco.

BTR broadcasts 24 hours a day on www.breakthruradio.com or www.NYTrack.com, New York's only website dedicated to the tri-state high school track community thus reaching over 5 million high school students.
