KINGSTON, N.Y. (PRWEB) March 7, 2006 -- New Spirituality Communications (www.newspiritualitycommunications.com), the nation's first public relations and marketing firm focusing on the swiftly emerging "spiritual marketplace," has won a coveted award for communications excellence from the Religion Communicators Council (www.religioncommunicators.org).

The communications firm won an Award for Excellence in the council's 2006 DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards competition. The firm will receive the award at a ceremony March 30 held during the council's annual convention in suburban Dallas.

are not condemning or abandoning their religions
New Spirituality Communications was recognized for creating a 40-page keepsake program for an international theological conference, "Seeds of Transformation: Toward a Spiritual Renaissance in a Time of Fundamental Change" (www.bard.humanitysteam.org), held at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., in June 2005.

The groundbreaking conference -- co-presented by Humanity's Team (www.humanitysteam.org), a worldwide spiritual movement, and the Institute of Advanced Theology at Bard (www.bard.edu/iat) -- explored an emerging trend in which people around the world are opening their minds to the possibility that our current theologies may be limited in what they understand.

These people "are not condemning or abandoning their religions," the conference program said, "nor are they suggesting that their religions do not have the best of intentions. Rather, they are examining their belief systems, courageously exploring new understandings about God and life, and if those understandings align with their personal inner truth and knowing, enlarging their belief systems to include them."

Gerry Harrington, New Spirituality Communications' founder and president, is also the worldwide communications coordinator of Humanity's Team and a member of the Institute of Advanced Theology. He developed and managed the conference, in addition to writing all the program's copy. He also art-directed the program's design and oversaw its production.

The program was judged on overall quality, including concept, writing, design, creativity, communication value and effectiveness in achieving its purpose. It competed against the best communication projects on religion and spirituality in the United States, according to the Religion Communicators Council. A panel of professional religion and secular communicators selected the winning entries.

New Spirituality Communications was founded in 2004 by Harrington, a former executive producer of CNN, who rebranded his 16-year-old public relations and marketing firm, previously known as Harrington Associates, after identifying a fast-developing trend toward a spiritual revival in America.

The agency offers a full range of strategic and tactical marketing and communications services for the spiritual marketplace. These services include book and movie publicity, media relations, organizational identity and positioning, marketing of products and services, cause-related marketing, events creation and management, editorial services, Web content development and trends research.
