New Forum for Songwriters

A new forum has been established for the open exchange of information among songwriters. Songwriters can post their own links, news, events, initiate discussions, meet other songwriters, advertise in the free classifieds and much more. This feature packed forum has many modern communication tools to enhance networking and exposure.

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) March 8, 2006 -- A new forum has been established that advocates the open exchange of information among songwriters. “The Lead Sheet," an Internet based discussion forum at SongWritersFestival.com was created to stimulate new thinking, generate group activity and encourage continuing education for songwriters. This feature packed forum has many modern communication tools to enhance networking and exposure. From the novice to the professional, songwriters of all genres can post their own links, news, events, initiate discussions, meet other songwriters, advertise in the free classifieds and much more.

Open and equal access to fresh data is a key element of this community-based initiative. "Our goal is to develop a comprehensive resource where music people can gather and express their own futures," says web founder and festival producer, "Popcorn" Robertson. “By creating this new global network via the Internet, we hope to give the little guy more power to be heard and communicate with other independents. It is dedicated to supporting the unknown songwriter and to help them establish that essential building block in the industry, networking and exposure."

It gives the songwriter additional choices when comparing recording studios, duplication and production services
Niles Franco, IT consultant to The Nashville Songwriter’s Festival, explains its many features: "There are calendars and discussion areas where songwriters can post where they are playing, look up or list events and activities, and find venues open to booking live original performances. It’s a place where one can find like-minded co-writers and connect with interested parties to collaborate on projects. There are also resources that provide articles, reviews, opinions and analysis. There is also a tip sheet section where artists, producers and publishers looking for songs on projects can list their needs or see what’s available from a large body of songwriting talent."

"It gives the songwriter additional choices when comparing recording studios, duplication and production services,” Franco says. The Pro Tutorial & Instruction Forum of the Lead Sheet is available for those seeking to deepen their knowledge and hone their craft. The Lead Sheet also features an Industry Café, where musicians can gather, talk shop, and offer their services.

Robertson points out, "The Lead Sheet also offers sections dealing with the more personal side of a songwriter’s life where one can post employment needed or wanted, crash pads, roommates, buy, sell, trade, wanted and even a songwriter singles section. We’re trying to cover all the bases and it’s all for free, and a free for all, as far as data sharing is concerned. Prior to the development of The Lead Sheet, songwriters would email me information and various requests, which I would sort through, organize, and manually post into the website. However, the Festival’s growth from year to year has turned this process into an all consuming labor. The Lead Sheet is an ideal solution as it is automated and very comprehensive. Now I can say, have at it, this is your community, do as you please."

The Nashville Songwriter’s Festival is celebrating the introduction of the Lead Sheet by awarding the first 1,000 registered users a three day general admission pass, for two, to the 2006 Nashville Songwriters Festival on Music Row June 16-18. Interested songwriters, industry professionals, and music fans of all types can find The Lead Sheet by pointing their browser to www.songwritersfestival.com and entering the ‘Community’ section from the main navigation bar.
