About US Doctors for Africa
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to assist the people of Africa in the ongoing fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic and other communicable diseases. USDFA deploys multi-disciplinary teams of healthcare professionals, medical supplies, medication and advanced health care technology to regions in sub-Saharan Africa most affected by disease. USDFA's strategic plan includes establishing and monitoring a complex database with state-of-the-art software which will track disease infection rate and patient treatment and interface with partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and health care institutions in order to create an alliance among organizations and nations in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.

About the AIDS Epidemic in Africa
In sub-Saharan Africa, every ten seconds a person contracts HIV and every twelve seconds another dies from AIDS. The epidemic continues to intensify in Southern Africa. In Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe, HIV infection levels among pregnant women are 20 percent or higher. In Botswana and Swaziland, infection levels are around 30 percent. South Africa's epidemic, one of the largest in the world, shows no signs of relenting. In neighboring Mozambique, HIV infection levels are rising at an alarming rate.
