Worldwide Distribution of Top Quality Books For Game Developers. GarageGames, the leading publishing label for independent games and professional game makers, is pleased to announce a partnership with premiere scientific book publisher A K Peters. Together, the two companies will produce and distribute books for game developers worldwide.

EUGENE, OR (PRWEB) March 13, 2006 -- GarageGames, the leading publishing label for independent games and professional game makers, is pleased to announce a partnership with premiere scientific book publisher A K Peters. Together, the two companies will produce and distribute books for game developers worldwide.

“We love making games as well as creating the tools for others to make games,” said Mark Frohnmeyer, President of GarageGames. “Publishing books is an extension of our efforts to teach aspiring programmers the fundamentals of game development. We could not have a better partner than A K Peters, a global book publisher with a stellar reputation for publishing high quality texts and references.”

We love making games as well as creating the tools for others to make games
The first book that will be published under this partnership is The Game Programmer’s Guide to Torque, a primer on how to make games using GarageGames’ proprietary Torque Game Engine. Programmers of all levels can now “get under the hood” of this technology and learn how to design his or her own game. With clear explanations and detailed discussions of the engine’s inner workings, as well as a CD with the full demo version of the Torque Game Engine, this book is a must-read for any programmer interested in making games — for fun or profit.

“We are very excited to be expanding our line of books in the videogame genre,” said Alice Peters, Publisher of AK Peters. “GarageGames’ vision for game development is very much in line with A K Peters philosophy — stay creative and independent, with a passion for excellence.”

The Game Programmer’s Guide to Torque will be available in leading booksellers on April 3, 2006. Copies will be on sale at Game Developers Conference (GDC) March 22-24th at A K Peters booth #1746. The second GarageGames / A K Peters publication will be Maximum Torque, which will be available in Summer 2006.
