Massage Therapists Attempt to Set Guinness World Record for Longest Moving Massage Chain

Massage therapists gathered at the Massage Therapy Training Institute in Kansas City on Monday, Oct. 24 and attempted to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest moving massage chain.

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) March 15, 2006 -- Massage therapists gathered at the Massage Therapy Training Institute on Monday, Oct. 24 to attempted to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest moving massage chain. The Massage Therapy Training Institute sponsored the event, which took place in the school's parking lot at 9140 Ward Parkway.

The massage therapists formed a large circle and each massaged the shoulders of the person in front of them while walking to music provided by a disc jockey. The Massage Therapy Training Institute will submit videotaped documentation of the event for consideration by The Guinness Book of World Records as the longest moving massage chain.

"This was a great way to kick off National Massage Week," says Don Farquharson, Executive Director of the Massage Therapy Training Institute. "The event gave massage therapists an opportunity to network and celebrate their profession while taking part in an event that may soon be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records."

Massage therapists were required to bring a copy of their diploma, transcript, license number or certification number in order to be counted toward the world record. Participants received commemorative t-shirts and had chances to win prizes.

The attempt to set the world record was the idea of Massage Therapy Training Institute student Angela Lamb. She shared her idea with faculty and staff, who offered to help make her dream a reality.

Event sponsors included Well-Spring Center for Natural Health & Wellness, AMTA Kansas City Chapter, and LSI International.
