Nanowerk Launches 'Spotlight,' a Daily Web Feature About the Latest Nanotechnology Research

Honolulu-based Nanowerk LLC, home of the Nanowerk Nanomaterial Database™, and one of the leading nanotechnology information portals, has added a valuable content feature to its website. The new, daily “Spotlight” section features Nanowerk-exclusive reviews, interviews and summaries of exciting and cutting edge nanotechnology research.

(PRWEB) March 20, 2006 -- Honolulu-based Nanowerk LLC, home of the Nanowerk Nanomaterial Database™, and one of the leading nanotechnology information portals, has added a valuable content feature to its website. The new, daily “Spotlight” section features Nanowerk-exclusive reviews, interviews and summaries of exciting and cutting edge nanotechnology research.

Every day, a Spotlight article will highlight a particularly interesting research topic, complete with links to the researchers, the scientific papers, and other relevant information. Every article is crafted in co-operation with the papers’ authors and may contain images and quotes not contained in the original scientific paper.

The Nanowerk Spotlight stands out from the daily news cycle because it is not driven by press releases but it takes a refreshingly pro-active look at the latest research.

The new Spotlight feature appears daily on Nanowerk’s homepage www.nanowerk.com. A full and searchable archive is available. The feature is free of charge and can be subscribed to via RSS or an email list.

Exclusive and original content
Michael Berger, co-founder of Nanowerk and editor of Spotlight says: “We come across many interesting scientists, research papers and presentations. Unfortunately we don't have time to cover them all. For the ones we do, we have created this special feature.”

Nanowerk’s Spotlight feature is a welcome addition to the daily nanotechnology news cycle. “Every day there is a handful of interesting nanotech-related press releases,” says Berger. “Of course that same news gets covered over and over again on all nanotechnology information sites,” he adds. “In contrast, our Spotlight is not based on others’ press releases but is original and exclusive to Nanowerk.”

A spotlight on what’s hot in Nanotechnology
“We strive to put a spotlight on interesting findings and developments, be they new materials, processes, fabrication or analytical methods,” says Berger. “Every month there are hundreds of new scientific articles across dozens of journals, all related to Nanotechnology; nobody has the time to read them all. Some findings with interesting and profound implications might not immediately stand out.”

The Nanowerk Spotlight offers the opportunity to sample some of the exciting research that is taking place. Through the convenient links provided it is easy for the interested reader to get into details and explore deeper.

“Every week we pick five particularly interesting research papers not only from the obvious sources such as Nanotechnology or Nano Letters but also from publications as diverse as Advanced Materials, Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications or Journal of Materials Chemistry, just to name a few,” explains Berger.

Often these articles are highly scientific in nature. One declared goal of Spotlight is to make its articles accessible to non-scientists as well.

Spotlight has a global focus and is not limiting its scope to a particular region. Since its launch in early February researchers from the U.S., Canada, PR China, Taiwan, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, Singapore, South Korea and Switzerland have been featured.
