Topeka, KS (PRWEB) March 19, 2006 -- Innovative educators that teach baking have an opportunity to win $1,000 and a trip to Napa Valley, California for the Home Baking Association (HBA) Annual Meeting in October. Each year the HBA has recognized outstanding educators for their creative programs for teaching youth to bake.
Classroom educators and community youth organization program leaders teaching baking are eligible to enter. Family and consumer science educators and youth leaders for 4H, Boys and Girls Clubs, Camp Fire USA and other afterschool or community programs are encouraged to share successful community baking programs. Youth who have developed baking programs that teaches other youth bake are also invited to enter.
The Home Baking Association annually provides national recognition for educators that implement outstanding, interdisciplinary baking education programs. The 2005 Educator Award Winners were Carrie Bouwens and Mary Metzger, Lincoln, Nebraska. Bouwens and Metzger are Family & Consumer Science Educators at Lux Middle School in Lincoln. They were recognized for their "AllAmerican Apple Pie" baking lesson.
The HBA believes baking plays an important role in the development of healthy children that are socially and academically wellrounded. Baking provides an opportunity to share family time and a joy of baking for others. Each year the association seeks to reward educators who have implemented outstanding programs that teach children to bake and share baking in their communities.
