JOI – Funk Maven Extraordinaire – Drops New Album: Tennessee Slim is the BOMB on March 28 and Launches Her Independent Label

Atlanta based, Underground Queen Joi is preparing to release the long-awaited Tennessee Slim is the Bomb on March 28, while launching her independent label Joilicious – a boutique company that will house overlooked talent.

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) March 27, 2006 -- Atlanta based, Underground Queen Joi is preparing to release the long-awaited Tennessee Slim is the Bomb on March 28, while launching her independent label Joilicious – a boutique company that will house overlooked talent.

The inaugural album released on Joilicious will be sold on the website, www.joilicious-online.org/ ; at live shows and at Mom and Pop retail stores in 12 major outlets. Larger retail outlets will follow.

Our approach to marketing, PR and promo is grass roots and on a steady grind. One major goal of Joilicious is to find, develop, groom, inspire and house the cream of incredible, marketable, overlooked talent.
Joilicious, LLC is 100% indie, and is the umbrella for Dirty Debutante Productions, the specific vehicle for Joi’s production talents.

“We use the visual of stage to promote sales,” Joi says of her newest business venture. “Our approach to marketing, PR and promo is grass roots and on a steady grind. One major goal of Joilicious is to find, develop, groom, inspire and house the cream of incredible, marketable, overlooked talent.”

Joi, the undisputed mother of Neo Soul, has a critically acclaimed career that has been notoriously plagued with label and distribution fiascoes. With her newly-found freedom in place, Joi will continue to convert many a naysayer into a believer of her brand of funk/crunk/soul on her terms.

Joi’s major label releases include Pendulum Vibe and Star Kitty’s Revenge. Her second album, Amoeba Cleansing Syndrome, has become a cult classic – selling for as much as $300 on eBay, though it was never formally released. She continuously works with renowned artists, such as: Raphael Saadiq, Outkast, Bun B of UGK, Sleepy Brown and George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic.
