GOSS - Better Connected Report Reveals GOSS Now Second Largest Supplier of Content Management Solutions to Local Authorities in UK

The SOCITM Better Connected 2006 report reveals that Plymouth based GOSS is now the second largest supplier of Content Management Solutions to local authorities within the UK, only being bettered by industry giant Microsoft. The company supplies over 35 local authorities with its iCM software, with this number ever increasing.

(PRWEB) March 25, 2006 -- GOSS, the Enterprise Content Management provider, has been supplying its Intelligent Content Management, iCM, software to both the private and public sector since 1999. The company has grown considerably during this time and has an impressive portfolio of customers including GMTV, Brittany Ferries and International clients such as the Romanian Economic and Social Council and WD-40.

The Society of Information Technology Management, SOCITM, has just released its eighth annual survey of all local authority websites. Each site being checked on a variety of specific points such as site content, usability and usage. Local Authorities are increasingly using technology to communicate with their citizens and to provide services to them.

The GOSS iCM software has been identified as providing excellent accessibility and usability to users whilst being able to manage large volumes of content. Award winning Dorsetforyou.com is one of the sites that has been given a 100% bill of health for accessibility and usability and has also passed an audit carried out by the RNIB. The Dorset site provides information to local citizens across five local authorities and has recently been awarded national recognition from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for providing the best example of joined up e-Government services.

Robert McCarthy, GOSS Technical Director, says, “We are all extremely proud that our software is powering so many sites within the public sector”. McCarthy adds, “The expertise and knowledge we use within the public sector to provide usability and accessibility, we are also able to provide to companies in the private sector. Private sector companies now need to attain specific compliancy standards and there is a requirement for them to be able to manage large volumes of content, the GOSS iCM solution delivers this.”
