Graduate of Los Angeles Film School Had 95 Miles to Go with Comedian Ray Romano

Graduate of The Los Angeles Film School (LAFS), Roger Lay, JR, appears in and serves as the Associate Producer of Ray Romano’s new film, 95 Miles to Go.

LOS ANGELES, CA: April 12, 2006– Graduate of The Los Angeles Film School (LAFS), Roger Lay, JR, appears in and serves as the Associate Producer of Ray Romano’s new film, 95 Miles to Go.

Lay studied film and television production at The Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, CA, and at the University of Southern California's (USC) School of Cinema-Television. In 1998, he completed the USC / Universal Pictures Directing Program, and has directed commercials, as well as music videos, for some of Latin music's top new artists including Si Señor and black:guayaba. In 2005, he produced the film adaptation of renowned science-fiction author, Ray Bradbury's, A Piece of Wood.

95 Miles to Go was created during a spring hiatus from Raymond when Romano performed on a standup comedy tour of the South. Joining him was Tom Caltabiano, his fellow standup comedian, former roommate, and Raymond writer, who also served as his opening act. Caltabiano had been documenting their road tours since the first in 1992, and convinced Romano for a new tour to be filmed. Romano did not want a full crew traveling with them, so Lay, who had also served as an intern for Raymond, also joined the seven city, eight-day tour.

The tour ran through: Miami, Tampa, Clearwater, Orlando, Jacksonville, Savannah and Atlanta. At the end of the tour, the edit bay was set at Romano’s office at Warner Bros. Studios and the team completed the two and a half hour final version.

95 Miles to Go opened in Los Angeles and New York on April 7, 2006, and has been receiving incredible reviews, being described by Joe Leydon of Variety as “An engaging crazy-quilt of comedy...Uproarious."

“We are very excited for Roger’s success and his opportunity to work with such an incredible talent as Ray Romano,” said CEO of LAFS, Diana Derycz-Kessler. “Our graduates are continually on the rise, and we know that Roger will be successful in his career for a long time to come.”

The Los Angeles Film School is a nationally accredited institution founded by Hollywood professionals who recognized the need for a new kind of film school – one that balanced the practical with the academic. The school is complete with a faculty of industry pros who bring knowledge and techniques straight from the Hollywood set with credits on films such as: The Matrix, Spider-Man, Fight Club, Chasing Amy and Blade Runner. The school encompasses all aspects of a Hollywood studio, and students shoot High Definition, Digital Video and 35mm films with premiere location sound recording and lighting packages. The school features small, hands-on classes and state-of-the-art facilities. Named as “one of the best-equipped private learning centers in the country” by The Hollywood Reporter, The Los Angeles Film School is where Hollywood is your classroom.
