Backstage Auctions Goes Live with Preview for the “San Francisco Rock Icon Auction” Collection

Backstage Auctions opens online auction preview featuring over 5000 pieces of rock memorabilia including original album artwork, rare recordings, vintage vinyl and historical ephemera chronicling nearly four decades of San Francisco’s most legendary rock icons.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 17, 2006 -– Backstage Auctions is proud to present the “San Francisco Rock Icon Auction,” featuring the largest collection of memorabilia highlighting some of rock’s most legendary artists from the city by the bay. “It truly is an incredible collection of music memorabilia that visually displays a storybook, stringing together nearly 4 decades of rock history,” explains Backstage Auctions founder Jacques van Gool.

The auction, which showcases the most amazing array of rare rock collectibles, featuring such artists as Journey, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Steve Miller and many more, chronicles the careers of legendary music industry icons Herbie Herbert, Bill Thompson and Steve Parish. And if that wasn’t enough, Journey’s bass-player Ross Valory, Santana’s original drummer and Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductee Michael Shrieve and Bay Area musicians’ manager Mark Sandoval have also contributed key pieces to the auction.

“During the “construction” phase of the auction, it was important to our consignors that the auction was put together in a way that there would be something, big or small, for everyone and everyone’s budget and we have definitely achieved that with over 800 auction lots,” says Jacques. The auction features over 100 gold and platinum record awards, rare concert posters, handbills and tickets, vintage guitars and amplifiers, original album cover artwork, hundreds of highly collectible concert t-shirts, over 5,000 records, acetates and test pressings, unreleased concert and studio recordings, photos, displays, personal diaries and the list goes on and on.

“It’s not every day that you can listen to a rare Santana studio recording from the early 1970’s or flip through Herbie Herbert’s personal date book filled with appointments which are now historical and monumental events and not feel a certain connection to these bands. I believe that whether you are a fan or a serious collector, this auction will definitely have something you simply can not live without,” explains Jacques.

The event, aptly titled the “San Francisco Rock-Icon Auction”, is a not-to-miss opportunity for collectors around the world to own an authentic piece of one of the most significant eras and cities in the history of music. It is no surprise that this collection is one of the most epic, exciting and interesting music memorabilia auctions to ever come from the Bay Area. The auction, which will be held on-line at www.backstageauctions.com starts on April 23rd and will run through April 30th and is currently available for preview.
