The Hamilton Community Action Network (CAN) will be hosting a kick-off party and open house at the Sky Dragon Community Centre on Tuesday April 18th, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Sky Dragon Community Centre is located at 27 King William Street in Hamilton.

Hamilton, Ontario (PRWEB) April 19, 2006 -- The Hamilton Community Action Network (CAN) will be hosting a kick-off party and open house at the Sky Dragon Community Centre on Tuesday April 18th, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Sky Dragon Community Centre is located at 27 King William Street in Hamilton.

The guest speaker at this event will be Joanna Chapman, bookstore owner and former Dundas Town Councillor. Ms. Chapman has become a household name in Hamilton since she began her fight to have a compliance audit conducted on campaign finances of Mayor Larry DiIanni as well as several other city councillors and defeated candidates.

“The two pillars of CAN’s policy platform are Good Government and Quality of Life,” said Alice Smith, local high school teacher and Chair of the Community Action Network. “After holding public meetings throughout the city and seeking the input of residents, it became clear that these are the two issues that are on everyone’s mind. Ms. Chapman will be addressing issues fundamental to good government: the need for accountability and transparency at City Hall.”

The Hamilton Community Action Network (CAN) is a grassroots group of residents who believe there are significant problems with the current decision-making and strategic directions adopted by Hamilton City Hall. CAN's mission is to promote municipal strategies that will help Hamilton realize its full potential. CAN aims to utilize a variety of mechanisms to engage Hamiltonians in the debate and to effect changes. This includes the endorsement and support of municipal candidates who are committed to promoting our vision.
