American Design Awards Announces Winter 2006 Winners

The American Design Awards announces its list of 2006 Winter Semi Annual Contest winners.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 20, 2006 -- The most engaging and closely fought design competition in American Design Awards’ history came down to one question - and it wasn’t who had the best design overall - because coming up with an answer would be close to impossible.

If you have ever had the pleasure to sit down during the judging process of a design contest, you will see that ninety five percent of entries received are worthy of some sort of an award, and very disappointing that only a few will be handpicked as the winners in their respective categories. Unfortunately though, that is the nature of contests, and that is why they are so exciting to be a part of.

We believe this will not only increase the number of winners, but reach out to more designers who may have been left out of previous competitions
Almost all 1200 design entries into the 2006 Winter Semi Annual Design Contest had one thing in common - they were all brilliant. The question however was who, amongst all the contenders, had the extra edge to be crowned as the best in their category. That question took six weeks to answer, but finally the list of winners is out, and undoubtedly it reads like a well recited poem in a Shakespearean play!

Winners this year include entries from newcomers NAS Recruitment, Target, The New Group, University of San Diego, and The New York Times, as well as returning winners such as Object 9, William Fox Munroe, and Copia Creative - just to name a few.

“We have tapped into an amazing and unending wealth of talent through these design competitions, and it is a pleasure to bring the best of the group to the forefront of the design industry for everyone to appreciate...” said Helen Kaz, director or marketing at ADA. She added, “Each event yields so many great designs that it’s a shame we only have room for a handful of winners.”

Entries were received from 26 countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, Korea, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Japan, China, Australia, India, Spain, South Africa, and a handful of other countries. “The American Design Awards has an international reach,” said Art Javid, creative director of ADA - “we are very pleased with the diversity of designs we have received this year, and extatic that designers from all corners of the world consider the American Design Awards an international design competition.”

In an effort to give more designers a chance to excel in their specific disciplines, the American Design Awards has been working on expanding its competition by introducing five (5) new categories for the 2006 Summer Semi Annual Contest (and beyond), to include book cover / jacket design, wearables design (t-shirt art), graphical user interface / icon design, marketing kit design, and digital advertisement design, bringing the number of categories to 20.

“We believe this will not only increase the number of winners, but reach out to more designers who may have been left out of previous competitions,” said Kevin Javid, executive vice president of ADA. “We needed to cover all disciplines, and I think we have done just that.”

Next, the American Design Awards will be holding its 2006 Summer Semi Annual Contest with a deadline of August 15th 2006. Entry forms for this event will become available in late April through the American Design Awards web site.
