America's Most Unique Tai Chi Event Returns Once Again to the Poconos

A tai chi & qigong event unlike any other calls forth both the merely curious, as well as the highly advanced.

East Stroudsburg, PA (PRWEB) April 27, 2006 -- Here in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, you can join hundreds of novice and advanced tai chi players, martial artists, energy workers and qigong practitioners. The annual Zhang San Feng Festival is one of the most enjoyable events around. Everyone is always welcome, always has fun, and always learns from incredible teachers. Learn all you can about tai chi chuan (taijiquan), bagua, xingyi, qigong, daoyin, Taoism, Chinese internal martial arts, energy, healing, holistic mind body practices... and more. A unique vending area - The Dao of Health Expo - boasts rare finds of Chinese clothing, tai chi / kungfu weaponry, uniforms, herbal elixirs, books, DVD's, feng shui items, and other treasures.

The most astounding thing about this event is that two seemingly disparate groups - those strictly interested in the martial arts application and those strictly interesting in health and spiritual energy - come together in a spirit of friendship and sharing. The martial arts teachers are highly skilled with years of real-life street experience, and the teachers of healing and energy are themselves an embodiment of health and peaceful vitality. Many attendees come alone and leave with new friends, and those coming with friends always leave with new memories. The atmosphere is more like a huge party with a gathering of talents rather than a typical expo.

Event director, Loretta Donnelly sums up the Festival's atmosphere most appropriately, "Sometimes people in high-profile or highly stressful careers come here and they just want a little peace and quiet. We respect that at this event, and I make sure to find them places where they can take a rest and recoup alone. Other times I'll notice someone looking a little lost or overwhelmed - I do my best then to introduce him or her to others that I think have something in common. Then I'll see them sitting and chatting together in the cafeteria until closing time. THAT'S what this event is all about."

Parties at night are included in the price, starting at a deeply discounted $99 for each 2 people pre-registering together, allowing them to attend any and all workshops, all Thurs-Sun. Parties include free wine and tasty tidbits, nightly entertainment, and interactive drumming circles - Bring your drums, tambourines, etc.

On Sunday, enjoy a traditional Chinese Lion Dance by Yee's Hung Ga Kungfu Academy, and feel free to participate in a Taoist (Daoist) incense ceremony. If you have a tai chi or kung fu uniform - wear it with pride.

Do you like Push Hands (tui shou)? There is a push-hands room open during the ENTIRE event. Push with all the people you want - share something you know, or learn something new yourself.

The Zhang San Feng Festival enjoys regular coverage by "Kungfu Tai Chi" magazine, "Inside Kungfu," "Tai Chi" magazine, and other publications. In fact, join "Kung Fu Tai Chi" magazine's editor, Gene Ching, while he teaches a workshop at the Festival.

All-you-can-eat food packages are available for purchase, and so are campus dorm rooms. Those desiring less spartan lodging will enjoy any of the nearby luxurious Pocono resorts.

It's recommended to act fast to pre-register to get all the discounts you can, and to reserve your space. Walk-in registration is also available. Call 973-670-6582 or pre-register easily online at: http://www.TaiChiFest.com

The event only comes around once a year, so don't miss it.
