Microsoft Game Studios Presents XBOX 360 and You at A Video Game Seminar Hosted by UVGA and University of Baltimore’s School of Information Arts and Technology
The Urban Video Game Academy (UVGA)and the University of Baltimore, School of Information Arts and Technology will host a “XBOX 360 and You” with presentations from from Microsoft Games Studios. This one-day event is free and open to the public, on Saturday April 29, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at the University of Baltimore, Student Center, 5th Floor Auditorium, located at Maryland and Mt. Royal Avenue.
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) April 28, 2006 -- The Urban Video Game Academy and the University of Baltimore, School of Information Arts and Technology will host a “XBOX 360 and You” demonstration featuring two of the industry’s rock stars from Microsoft Games Studios, Kevin Brown Senior Art Director, and Leon Pryor, General Manager. This one-day event is free and open to the public, on Saturday April 29, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at the University of Baltimore, Student Center, 5th Floor Auditorium, located at Maryland and Mt. Royal Avenue.
The event will feature exciting presentations on the XBOX 360 from two African Americans who are leading video game design at Microsoft Game Studios. The publishers of Rise of Nations, Flight Simulator and Zoo Tycoon, along with other great games designed for the XBOX 360, as well as the upcoming MMOG, Vanguard, for the PC.
The Microsoft XBOX 360 event is being hosted by the Urban Video Game Academy www.uvga.org and the University of Baltimore, School of Information Arts and Technology http://iat.ubalt.edu/SDE/ to expose Baltimore and Washington, DC area high school and college students to career opportunities in the hot new video game design and development field.
The mission of the Urban Video Game Academy (UVGA) is to better prepare students in disadvantaged and underserved areas for postsecondary education and technology careers by teaching the fundamentals of video game design and development.
“Our programs teach introductory video game programming and design, which we use to enhance learning in mathematics, science and writing. The mastery and application of these skills alongside technology are very important in the video game development process,” says AAGamer President Roderick Woodruff, co-founder of the academy. Nearing the completion of its first year UVGA’s program has reached over 300 urban high school students in Atlanta, Baltimore, and Washington, DC.
