Garrett Michael Hayes Wins Libertarian Nomination for Governor of Georgia

"My platform is simple, and I *will* stand on it: Eliminate the state income tax while working with our US Congressional delegation to help enact the national Fair Tax." -- Garrett Michael Hayes

(PRWEB) April 30, 2006 -- Garrett Michael Hayes wins Libertarian nomination for Governor of Georgia.

“It's time to Liberate Georgia,” said Hayes after winning the gubernatorial nomination by a unanimous vote at Saturday's convention of the Libertarian Party of Georgia. "Georgians lived on a Democrat-run plantation for 130 years, waiting for Republicans to free them. Look what they got…more taxes, more regulations, and an endlessly dismal education system."

"Georgian's are fed up, and they ought to be. They thought they elected a conservative who would stand on principle. Instead they got, 'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!'"

"My platform is simple, and I *will* stand on it: Eliminate the state income tax while working with our US Congressional delegation to help enact the national Fair Tax; Put real change and real choice into Georgia's appalling 'Education' system; and completely pull the teeth from those who would abuse eminent domain laws to steal your property.

Biography
Born in California in 1956, Garrett Michael Hayes was raised in rural Maine, before his family returned to California in 1969. Hayes attended Beverly Hills High School (zip code 90212, for anyone who cares) and graduated from California State College at Bakersfield with a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies. In Bakersfield, Hayes married and had a son, whom he has raised as a single parent since 1985.

Hayes moved his family to Georgia in 1991, and has never regretted the choice. "I was tired of breathing air I could see," Hayes said, "and, even more, I wanted a place to raise my son where freedom still meant something."

Professionally, Hayes has made his career in the Information Technology field, working in almost every aspect of the field, from repair technician, to application developer, to systems administrator and product reviewer. He currently runs the consulting firm of Verbal Imaging, Ltd. Co., where he focuses on writing for a wide variety of customers, including the computer trade press.

Hayes joined the Libertarian Party in 1997, and has been active in the Cobb County organization, serving at various times as county Chairman, Vice Chairman and delegate to the Libertarian Party of Georgia annual convention.

Hayes is currently Secretary of the Cobb County Libertarian Party.
