BOJ Books Announces: Call for Entry/I Told You I Can Play! - Nationwide Youth Art Contest
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 2, 2006 -- Young artists, it’s time to show off your talents. Children 5-8 years old are invited to draw a picture for the cover of Atlanta Braves player, Brian Jordan’s book, I Told You I Can Play!
Renowned illustrators Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa Hu have creatively and beautifully captured the various emotions from Jordan’s writings. Now, it’s your turn to do the same. How would you draw Mr. Jordan’s book cover? BOJ Books is now eagerly accepting art entries nationwide. Prizes include a $100 gift certificate to Toys-R-Us as well as other numerous prizes. Jordan admits, “My parents always made sure we did something educational and creative during the summers. I thought an art contest would be something enjoyable yet constructive for our young people to do.”
Jordan, who’s also an entrepreneur and philanthropist, teamed up with New Jersey-based publishing company, Just Us Books, Inc. to release, I Told You I Can Play! The book tells the story of a six year-old boy’s quest to prove to his siblings and their friends that he can play with the older kids.
Children across America are not shy when it comes to shouting out, "I told you I can play," following one of Jordan’s book readings and motivational speeches. The young audiences are empowered with self-confidence and determination while gaining the understanding that being small in size doesn’t limit the potential. It’s exactly the mind- set Jordan wants to leave with his listeners.
Contest information:
- Entries are currently being accepted.
- Participants must be 5 thru 8 years of age as of
August 1, 2006.
- Only one entry per child is allowed.
- Entries will be divided into two age groups.
- Artwork will be judged by age category, originality, colorfulness, and message being conveyed.
- Artwork and entry form must be submitted together.
- Suggested drawing materials:crayons, watercolors, paints, markers, and colored pencils.
- Deadline for submissions is Friday, August 1, 2006.
- An entry fee is not required.
- A book purchase is not required for entry.
Winners will be announced on September 30, 2006. The 6 winning drawings will be showcased in Mr. Jordan’s office and online at www.bojbooks.com.
Entries must be postmarked by August 1, 2006 and mailed to BOJBooks, Attn: Tamara Wilson, P.O. 4745, Atlanta, GA 30302.
