Reciprodate Makes Online Dating "Personal" Again

Reciprodate applies existing technology to the realm of online dating, making the process more "personal". By rating profiles, singles who use Reciprocal Dating can see who else they will be attracted to, and more importantly, who is attracted to them.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 5, 2006 -- With several top online dating services turning to compatibility tests and computerized matchmaking to pair up their members, many users of online personals are beginning to question whether the “human” element of attraction is getting lost in the shuffle.

“Finding out if I have a lot in common with someone based on psychological tests or some expert’s opinion is fine,” says Robin Sullivan, a former client of two prominent online dating services. “However, the fact of the matter is that if I’m personally not attracted to someone, that relationship has very little hope of even getting off the ground.”

In a market saturated with dating sites that fail to address this intangible yet essential facet of compatibility, Reciprodate.com believes it has found the missing link between online personal ads and human attraction. Using a process dubbed “Reciprocal Dating,” Reciprodate allows its members to discover not only which members they are likely to be attracted to, but also those who might be interested in them as well.

By rating profiles on a scale of 1 to 10, site users hone in on their ideal matches through an entertaining interactive experience. Once the user has rated a minimum of twenty profiles, the computer system is then able to “predict” which unseen profiles the user is likely to have an interest in, generating an easy to navigate list. As a member continues to rate more profiles, the prediction accuracy increases dramatically. The benefit of Reciprocal Dating becomes increasingly evident when a member selects the option “who is interested in me” and “mutual interest.”

“On most sites it was always scary to contact people whose profiles you’re interested in because there’s no way of knowing if the feeling is mutual,” says Sullivan, now happily married. “With Reciprodate I could see a shortened list of users I’d be interested in, as well as those who are interested in me.”

“Envision being able to walk around wearing a pair of magical glasses that lets you see which people find you attractive,” says Robert Ho, founder of this unique dating service. “This is equivalent to the power of Reciprocal Dating, which is something that no conventional dating or matchmaking service can ever do.”

The core concept behind Reciprocal Dating is collaborative filtering, a technology which has been around for some time. It is the governing process that enables successful online companies like Netflix, Amazon, and Ximphony to recommend items such as movies, books, or drinks to site users. Reciprodate is the first to apply this concept to the realm of online dating and personals.
