Somatic Digital Appoints Vice President of Operations

Eric S. Lombardo to help lead the Company’s deployment of the TUI technology.

CINCINNATI, OH. (PRWEB) May 9, 2006 -- Somatic Digital, a developer of innovative technology-based products for publishers announces the appointment of Eric S. Lombardo. This appointment demonstrates the Company’s continued momentum toward being the leading provider of hardware and software publishing platform tools that enable publishing companies to link digital content to printed media. Somatic Digital’s hybrid platform enables a new generation of enhanced educational materials that is also inclusive of special needs.

“We are pleased with Eric’s addition to the team. His operations knowledge will help develop the infrastructure and financial position our technology products require in order to gain a market presence with increasing revenues,” said Jason E. Barkeloo, Founder and President.
Mr. Lombardo has over 20 years of senior-level business experience with technology firms such as Wang Laboratories and NCR Corporation. In 1989 he co-founded LanVision, Inc.(NASDAQ: LANV) and led the company to a successful initial public offering (IPO) in 1996.

According to Mr. Lombardo, “It is clear to me that the real value proposition is not with trying to create paperless environments, rather to make print an inexpensive conduit to digital content that is inclusive to everyone. This reduces the dependency on paper without completely eliminating it.” Lombardo concludes, “This is truly an opportunity to converge print and digital contents. I am extremely excited about the opportunity we have to make a real difference in the educational experience of kids with special needs as well as every other student around the world.

Mr. Lombardo is an active volunteer with The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati and was a founding member of The Buddy Walk Organizing Committee which was instrumental in bringing that major fund raising event to Cincinnati in 2002.

Mr. Barkeloo concludes that, “Eric’s business development experience coupled with his passion to include all children in the learning process should help Somatic Digital deploy its revolutionary TUI (touch user interface) technology with publishers.”

About Somatic Digital
Somatic Digital, LLC is a developer of the Touch User Interface (TUI) technology. The TUI technology connects paper directly to digital content that can reside on optical media, the Internet, or hard-drives. It enables a bridge over the digital divide because it eliminates barriers that previously prevented people from connecting to digital content. With the press of a finger, stylus or pointer, a physically, visually, or hearing impaired student can gain access to digital content.

Somatic Digital first creates and distributes the tools that easily enable authors and publishers to develop printed materials connecting readers to digital content at the touch of pages in a book. The publisher can easily implement the TUI-based product development process into their existing business systems. The Company's publisher development kit (PDK) allows for easy and rapid development of TUI-based materials that can be used by all individuals regardless of learning style, special needs or socioeconomic status. Once the publisher has designed TUI-based products, Somatic Digital manufactures and helps the publisher integrate the TUI hardware into the production process.
The TUI technology enables publishers to not only create new hybrid products that directly connect to digital content through the paper; it also enables them to inclusively connect the special needs populations including Braille and auditory content for the blind, sub-captions and ASL for the hearing impaired, and a pointer for those with motor impairments. The multi-modal delivery system can help a publisher provide a National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS), Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act, No Child Left Behind Act, and Section 504 solution at the time of product deployment.
