Wonder Monkey Proves Hit with Cramer Watchers

CramerWatch.org’s resident stock-picking simian, Leonard ‘The Wonder Monkey is a hit amongst online investment community, as Jim Cramer viewers and critics have discovered the irreverent website and made it an instant success.

Winnipeg (PRWEB) May 15, 2006 -- CramerWatch.org’s resident stock-picking simian, Leonard ‘The Wonder Monkey is a hit amongst the online investment community, as Jim Cramer viewers and critics have discovered the irreverent website and made it an instant success.
CramerWatch.org recently re-launched its free website, which evaluates the stock recommendations of Wall Street guru Jim Cramer, star of MSNBC’s nightly Mad Money with Jim Cramer. The site features Leonard ‘The Wonder Monkey,’ CramerWatch.org’s resident stock picker who recommends buying or selling the stocks that appear on Mr. Cramer’s nightly ‘Lightning Round’ by simply flipping a coin.

The site immediately caught the attention of the investment community and has been featured on MarketWatch, as well as several blogs. The site has taken on a viral quality as it makes the rounds of investment houses and investors.

“CramerWatch.org has exceeded our expectations,” says CramerWatch.org’s Kevin Hill. “The traffic to our site has been excellent and the feedback we have received from investors and people in the online investment community has been excellent and supportive.”

Humor was important in distancing the site from similar domains. “We wanted to keep things irreverent and light and I think people have appreciated that,” says Hill. “Jim Cramer lends himself to parody and criticism. With all the shouting and screaming, baby talk, throwing of chairs, ringing bells and whistles, his show is more circus than investment show. The idea of him competing and losing against a monkey seems to have hit a funny bone out there.”

The goal of the site is to impartially review if Cramer is good for investors. The website collects each of Mr. Cramer’s ‘Lightning Round’ recommendations and tracks the performance of each stock recommendation. The performance of the stock is also compared to the performance of the overall market over 30 days. The recommendation is also compared to the decisions of Leonard ‘The Wonder Monkey’ to prove that randomly buying or selling those same picks will actually make the investor more money than following all of Mr. Cramer’s recommendations.

“We started this site back in 2005, to see how effective the ‘lightning’ picks were,” says Hill. “Intuitively, we thought they couldn’t be that good. So, we set out to prove it one way or the other. Cramer does extensive research some of the other sections of show, but the ‘Lightning Round’ is what people tune in for, and the fact that the segment is so heavily promoted throughout his show indicates it is very popular.”

The results are impartial, with the results are independently arrived at and simply posted on the site. “We use Leonard to keep things cheeky, but the underlying message is that you could do better by tossing a coin, or more importantly listening to your own investment advisors and doing your own research,” says Hill.
