Sportsplex Gymnastics Level 4 Team Takes Maryland State Championship 2nd Place Trophy

The Sportsplex Level 4 team earned the 2nd place team trophy at Maryland State Championships sponsored by ACPR Gymnastics in Churchville, MD.

Landover, MD (PRWEB) May 14, 2006 -- This is the second year of competition for the team. The team members are Audrey Barber, Alysha Belle, Ashley Belle, Summer Bonner, Victoria Carr, Camille Carr, MarieAnne Charles, Chelsea Cochrane, Monay Henry, Chandler Jackson, Annie Leveling, Maya Miller, Jasmyn Parham, Simone Reeder and Jasmine Williams.

Parham and Barber placed first and second respectively, in all-around for their age group. Miller placed first (AA) in her age group. C. Carr and Cochrane placed third (AA) and fourth (AA) respectively in their age group. Jackson placed second (AA) and Leveling placed fifth (AA) in their age group. On Vault, Williams placed second and V.Carr placed third in their age groups. On Bars, Reeder placed fifth. On Floor, Henry placed third and Charles placed fifth in their age groups. Jackson qualified for the Level 4 Maryland State Team. The athletes with the highest all-around scores, regardless of age, are chosen for this team.

The Level 4 team took first place team in four out of the six meets for this competitive season. They finished second place team in the "Tune Up" and "State" meets. "I am proud of the team's accomplishments for this season, said Coach Jodi Morgan. We have worked hard and have come a long way as team. Our second place finish is a reflection of that effort and I am looking forward to working with them next season."

The Sportsplex Gymnastics program in under the direction of Patti Delaney at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD. The program consists of 37 athletes, with levels 4, 5, 6, and 7 as competitive levels. The level 3 team does not compete. The Sportsplex Gymnastics competitive program started in 2004.
