National Speed Sport News Readers: Toyota to Dominate NASCAR

Readers of National Speed Sport News, America’s weekly motorsports authority for over 70 years, would not be surprised to see Toyota dominate NASCAR.

Harrisburg, NC (PRWEB) May 16, 2006 -- Toyota to dominate NASCAR? Right now that’s the leading prediction of readers in a current online poll at http://www.NationalSpeedSportNews.com. About a third of the readers of the motorsports newsweekly picked “Toyota will dominate,” as the answer to the question, “What do you think will happen with Toyota's entry into NASCAR Nextel Cup Series racing?”

Readers were evenly split on two of the other choices in the poll. “Its the teams that make a difference, not the manufacturers,” and “Who cares? Its the racing that matters” each got about a fifth of the votes.

Japanese-based auto manufacturer Toyota has recently announced its entry into NASCAR competition. One factory-supported team headed by Michael Waltrip has announced it will field at least two cars in 2007. Waltrip will drive one of the cars, and the team recently signed former Cup champion Dale Jarrett to drive a second car.

NASCAR has been dominated by American-based manufacturers, but Toyota is expected to shake things up by investing a lot of money in winning races. Next season Toyota will be fielding the Camry to compete with the Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Dodge Charger. Although this will be the first time the Camry will compete in NASCAR, ironically it has been the best-selling car in the U.S. in eight of the last nine years.

The newsweekly conducts online motorsports-related polls with its readers each week. To participate in the current online poll, visit http://www.NationalSpeedSportNews.com and cast your vote.
