Phoenix Artist Included in Group Art Show

The Sonoran Arts League in conjunction with The Harris Bank at el Pedregal, The Boulders AZ, opened a new group show May 15, 2006. The exhibit will run thru Oct 31.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) May 17, 2006 -- Work by award-winning artist JohnMichael is included in the current group art show at The Harris, el Pedregal, The Boulders AZ. The exhibit will run thru October 31, 2006 and is free to the public.

el Pedregal Festival Marketplace is located at the Boulders, Arizona. el Pedregal means "A Place with Many Stones," and resembles an ancient Moroccan oasis with a brilliant canopy arching overhead and towered walls that reflect the colors of the Sonoran Desert. Draped in the shadows of the 12 million-year-old boulders, el Pedregal is one of the Valley's most distinctive shopping destinations.

Thirty shops and restaurants on two levels surround an enticing courtyard and amphitheater, featuring fascinating boutiques, artisan-crafted gifts, Southwestern apparel, intriguing original art galleries, fun and casual dining, a full-service salon and The Heard Museum North with its constantly changing exhibits of Native American crafts and culture.

The SAL group art exhibit includes JohnMichael's painting titled 'Segment I' which is a provocative abstract in the abstract expressionist tradition. Combining metallic gold, black and white paint, the artist has created a significant new work.

Considered an emerging artist, JohnMichael's reputation is growing and now has clients throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Collectors and art enthusiasts have given the artist rave reviews of his work.

The artist majored in Architecture in college. He has also studied the New York School / abstract expressionism. He admires the work of Franz Kline, Jasper Johns, and Larry Rivers among others. He has also studied the work of artists from the Far East. As a result, you may see elements of abstract expressionism, minimalism, the Orient, calligraphy, and architecture in his provocative abstract paintings.

JohnMichael is listed in the 2005 Contemporary Artists Directory for Arizona. He is a member of the Arizona Artists Guild and the Sonoran Arts League and his work can be seen in many siginificant online art galleries.
