Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 20, 2006 -- Self Defense Expert Alvin Mendoza will lead "The Secrets of Self-Defense Seminar" on Saturday June 17, 2006 from 10:30 am until noon at Degerberg Academy of Martial Arts, 4717 N. This seminar will teach:

one of the finest, best-equipped martial arts training facilities in the world

  • the one thing an attacker doesn't want you to do and why you should do it
  • simple habits that can keep you safe
  • what techniques you DO NOT want to try on the street and why
  • what to say to get people to come to your aid (it's not what you think)
  • simple effective techniques you can use should you choose to fight

There will be a short presentation followed by demonstrations and hands-on practice of techniques for various self-defense situations. Degerberg Academy was the first martial arts "university" where students learn the best techniques from martial arts traditions from around the world.

"The way you practice is the way you will react in a real situation. This seminar will focus on simple effective techniques that anyone can do. We'll squeeze as much technique as possible into 90 minutes." said Mendoza. Degerberg Academy seminars are known for their focus on solid information and the opportunity to practice real techniques.

Alvin Mendoza, 32, is a Black Belt Instructor at Degerberg Academy of Martial Arts. He currently teaches Muay Thai Boxing. The school was founded by Fred Degerberg, a Ninth Degree Black Belt with over 55 years experience practicing martial arts. The Lincoln Square school was rated #1 by the US Martial Arts Association and has been called "one of the finest, best-equipped martial arts training facilities in the world" by Inside Kung Fu Magazine.
