The Daily Stroll Launches Fundraiser to Get Sextuplets Out of the House

Popular online magazine for moms raises $1500 for a state of the art stroller by Berg Design for the Gosselin sextuplets of Pennsylvania.

(PRWEB) May 23, 2006 -- It was a treat to relax on the sofa for the evening of Sunday May 14th, 2006 (Mother’s Day) for The Daily Stroll’s editor-in-chief Lizabeth Sorensen, mother of 22-month old Ruby. With glass of wine in hand and her daughter to bed, husband out of town on business, Sorensen wanted nothing more than to sit and watch television which she thinks of as a special event with her busy schedule. A commercial for a special program called “Surviving Twins and Sextuplets” on Discovery Health Channel peaked her interest and she settled in to watch. What she saw on television would offer an exciting way to help others, and prove to her that mothers can move mountains, or at least 6 toddlers and their mother out of the house.

Kate and Jonathan Gosselin of Pennsylvania have twins, and sextuplets. The Discovery Health Channel special profiled the life events of the Gosselin ten, that is one set of five year old twins, and the sextuplets, age two who are referred to as “the Gosselin Six”. For a mother of a well behaved 22-month old watching from upstate NY, Sorensen truly understood the meaning of what it is to be able to watch a television program un-interrupted for an hour. Eight kids under five years of age mean little outings and relaxation for mom Kate but she seemed so positive on the show, and the entire family made Sorensen smile.

As the editor-in-chief of one of the most popular places on the Internet to find out about new trends in baby, maternity fashions, nursery décor and toys, Sorensen was also tuned into the interesting kitchen table shown in the Gosselin house. A boomerang shaped table with six seats was genius and although The Daily Stroll at http://www.thedailystroll.com rarely covers products for multiples, this television special proved that the market was out there for interesting, functional, fabulous items for all sorts of families.

Sorensen immediately got on Google and found the website for “The Gosselin Six” at http://www.sixgosselins.com. There she found an email address for the family and figured that her inquiry about the funky kitchen table would never be answered, after all does Kate Gosselin ever get a break from Cara, Madelyn, Aaden, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Joy, Leah, or husband Jonathan? Laundry? Groceries? For a split second during the day she does get a break, this comes from years of scheduling flawless (well usually) naps. The Gosselins wrote right back and said that their kitchen table was actually something that daycare centers use but they had moved on to bigger and better wishes and needs. Ironically, Kate’s biggest wish was to take her six toddlers on a “daily stroll”. When she sent a link in the response email to the owner of the leading baby trends website she did not expect it would turn into a whirlwind fundraiser to get her the stroller of her dreams.

Minutes after seeing the link for the brand new Silver Bullet stroller by Berg Design at http://www.runabouts.net Sorensen emailed the company directly to put together a plan to get the Gosselins their daily stroll. Roger Berg responded with hours and offered to lower the price of the stroller, throw in shipping from Oregon to Pennsylvania, and offered complimentary rain canopies. Sorensen was sure she could make up the $1500.00 difference for the custom engineered masterpiece with the support of her loyal reader base of thousands of moms all over the world. After all moms can move mountains, and her down-to-earth, educated readers would realize that they like Sorensen, took for granted the few hours a day they get to relax on the sofa when their one or two children are resting, or in the care of others. The plan worked and The Daily Stroll immediately launched the “fun”draiser “Get Gosselins A Stroller” at http://www.thedailystroll.com/getgosselinsastroller.html. Needless to say when the Daily Stroll had gathered over $1000.00 in less than 48 hours, Kate and Jon Gosselin were amazed.

“I stand in AWE!!!!! I am starting to allow myself to envision a daily stroll.... they are so quiet in their strollers.... I can't wait to hear.... nothing!!!!!” the mother of eight under five had to say. With a daily average of over $200, Sorensen has already warned Roger Berg and his team to box up the stroller.

“The best part has been updating Kate with the amount we have raised, and seeing the comments from the mom readers when they send in their paypal payments about how fun this is, and how they cannot imagine a day in the life of the Gosselin 10”- says Sorensen, editor-in-chief of The Daily Stroll. “We even went as far as to bribe large donations out of our readers. We have the power to connect with the most talented baby and maternity designers, and we promise a gift basket filled with the trendiest items of 2006 to the highest donation, so far the highest has been $200 from one family!” states Sorensen.

The campaign to get Kate Gosselin out of the house started on Thursday May 18, 2006. The funds are projected to be raised by the end of May with little difficulty, and Sorensen and her team at The Daily Stroll look forward to helping other families in the future. To donate please click the link to Get Gosselins A Stroller.
