A Unique Way to Celebrate Father's Day, Listen to or Learn to Play the Autoharp

Have you ever wanted to learn to play the Autoharp? Have you ever wondered what an Autoharp is? If you are intrigued by one or both of these questions or are looking for a new way to celebrate Father’s Day, Austin-based Celtic musician, Marc Gunn has an event for you.

AUSTIN, TX (PRWEB) June 8, 2006 -- Have you ever wanted to learn to play the Autoharp? Have you ever wondered what an Autoharp is? If you are intrigued by one or both of these questions or are looking for a new way to celebrate Father’s Day, Austin-based Celtic musician, Marc Gunn has an event for you.

First, for the uninitiated or the curious; an autoharp looks a bit like a zither with a damper system attached. It is commonly used in bluegrass and folk music of all kinds and figures prominently in the music stylings of Marc Gunn and his musical group the Brobdingnagian Bards. The autoharp produces a pleasant and very unique type of sound and enjoys a reputation of being easy to learn.

Marc will give an autoharp concert from 3-4 pm on Father’s Day (June, 18th) at Things Celtic, located at 1806 W. 35th Street, Austin. At 4:30 pm he will give a free instructional session on autoharp basics.

So bring your dad (or son), an autoharp, tuner and tuning wrench (if you have them) and Marc will be happy to get beginners started on this intriguing instrument. If you are just curious and don’t own an autoharp, come on down anyway, Marc will likely have one or two extra.
