Action-Comedy “Hot Tamale” Official Selection of Boston International Film Festival and Winnipeg International Film Festival
The Boston International Film Festival, has made their official 2006 selections and will be presenting the East Cost Premier of “Hot Tamale,” June 9th.
(PRWEB) June 7, 2006 -- The Boston International Film Festival, has made their official 2006 selections and will be presenting the East Cost Premier of “Hot Tamale,” June 9th. Hot Tamale an action comedy that features an ensemble cast comprising some of the film world's hottest up-and-coming young actors teamed alongside seasoned veterans, including: Randy Spelling; Diora Baird; Jason Priestley; Carmen Electra; Matt Cedeño and Mike Starr.
Randy Spelling stars in “Hot Tamale” as a young man who, after leaving his Wyoming home for Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a drummer in a salsa band, finds himself caught up in a deadly caper and pursued by a pair of relentless hit men. Spelling has appeared in such films as: “Held For Ransom;” “ National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze;” He recently completed filming “Pledge This!” (with Paris Hilton) and will be starring in the new TV series “Son’s of Hollywood” premiering on A&E this summer.
Playboy Covergirl and Guess supermodel Diora Baird co-stars as the beautiful California girl Spelling's character encounters in Los Angeles who gets pulled into the whirlwind of adventure. Baird was featured alongside Owen Wilson in this summer’s smash comedy hit “Wedding Crashers” from New Line Cinema. She will soon appear prominently in “Accepted” from Universal Pictures and UPN’s “South Beach.” She has just finished shooting a starring role in “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Origin” for producer Michael Bay.
Rounding out the ensemble cast are: Jason Priestley who first achieved stardom in eight seasons of the Fox TV series “Beverly Hills 90210” and is enjoying his first season on “Love Monkey”; the versatile music sensation and film and television star Carmen Electra; soap opera star Matt Cedeño who has been honored by People En Español magazine as both one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World and as one of the 25 Hottest Latin Bachelors in the World; and actor Mike Starr, veteran of more than 50 feature films.
“Hot Tamale” is a Riviera Films-Orchard Park Production and was written and produced by the husband and wife team of Janeen and Michael Damian. Michael Damian directed with Frank C. Muggia as executive producer. The East Coast premiere of “Hot Tamale” will be held at the Boston International Film Festival, Friday, June 9, 2006 at 5:45PM at the AMC/LOEWS Boston Common: 175 Tremont St. Boston. The Canadian Premiere will be held at the Winnipeg International Film Festival, Saturday June 10, 2006 at 9:15PM at CityTV Theatre @ Prairie Theater Exchange, Winnipeg, MB.
Director Michael Damian first achieved national stardom by appearing in the #1 rated soap opera “The Young and the Restless” for 18 years. In addition to his acting career, Michael has also pursued a music career, having released 5 albums and 8 Top-40 hits, including his #1 single “Rock On” which earned him his first gold record. He also starred on Broadway in the hit revival of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Turning his versatile talents towards the screen, Michael co-wrote and produced (together with his wife Janeen) as well as directed the action-spy TV series “Red Eye” for TF1 in Paris and is currently in pre-production on the feature film “Moondance Alexander” which begins principle photography in Calgary June 19th.
Motion Picture Corporation has acquired the worldwide rights to "Hot Tamale." MPCA’s Vice President, International, Francisco Gonzalez said: “This is a commercial film that will be embraced by audiences around the world. We have had great success with similar films in recent years and believe ‘Hot Tamale’ will be the sleeper action comedy hit of the year.”
