Champion Auctioneer Rowlan Hill Is First African American Named to World Automobile Association Board of Directors
Additionally, master auctioneer Rowlan Hill is the first African American to have been inducted into the World Wide College of Auctioneering Hall of Fame/Hall of Champions; to instruct at the prestigious World Wide College of Auctioneering; to win an International Livestock Auction Championship; and the first and only black to be named Pacific Open Auctioneer Pro Division Champion.
PHOENIX, AZ (PRWEB) June 7, 2006 -- African American champion auctioneer Rowlan Hill continues to establish “firsts” in the white-dominated auctioneer industry. During its May 5, 2006 annual meeting of shareholders in Ft. Worth, Texas, the World Automobile Auctioneers Professional Association (WAAPA) named Colonel Hill to its Board of Directors. In his new role, Hill will be director of the Southwest Region representing over 300 auctioneers from California, Nevada, Hawaii and Arizona. One of very few African America auctioneers, Hill is the first to be elected to the WAAPA board, and is its only African American member.
The WAAPA is dedicated to the educational, social and legislative needs of auctioneers and ring people. This honor joins Hill’s many other accomplishments. Recently, he became the first African American to have been inducted into the World Wide College of Auctioneering Hall of Fame/Hall of Champions and the first selected to Instruct at the prestigious 75-year-old World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. Hill is also the first and only black to win an International Livestock Championship (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and a Pacific Open Auctioneer Pro Division Championship (San Diego, CA).

Rowlan Hill is a 21-year veteran champion auctioneer. His broad-based selling experience includes fine art, livestock, real estate and more for private estates, public charities and corporations. Fluent in Spanish, Hill has mastered auctions in Canada and Mexico, and maintains expert auctioneer status throughout the United States. Though equally adept at auctioning fine art at a black-tie affair as he is selling horses in Wranglers and sweatshirt, activities that appeal to him most are emceeing and selling at celebrity fundraising benefits and high-profile charity affairs.
