Just Say No to Excessive Oil Company Profits
http://www.chumpedatthepump.com: As the prices at the gas pumps have continued to rise, there has been unrest and complaining on the part of consumers with little action.
Camerillo, CA (PRWEB) June 7, 2006 -- Chumped At The Pump (http://www.chumpedatthepump.com) is taking a stand, as well as joining the ever-increasing voice of displeasure. Chumped at the Pump owner Steve Gansert said the goal of his web site is to keep consumers informed and to work on providing ways to help bring the prices down.
As the prices at the gas pumps have continued to rise, there has been unrest and complaining on the part of consumers with little action.
"In this day and age of ever increasing gas prices I have decided to no longer be chumped at the pump," Gansert said. "After record profits at the pumps and huge retirement packages and '$54,000,000 being paid in campaign contributions since 2001" (1) the oil companies, specifically ExxonMobil, have used capitalism as an excuse for their price gouging rather than the truth which is “windfall profits at the oil companies and price gouging by refiners are symptoms of a very dangerous disease in the oil industry -- its anti-competitive, anti consumer market structure."(2)
Gansert said it was that attitude that motivated him to start his web site and do something to show ExxonMobil that consumers were tired of being gouged.
"We as consumers in the land of the free choose to no longer submit to ExxonMobil as they have turned their collective backs on the negative impact this is having on the economy and my fellow Americans," Gansert said. "One of the nice things about being an American is freedom of speech. If we unite, we as consumers can make a difference. There have been numerous e-mail floating around, but the recipients are not really taking a stand."
To show consumer disgust, Gansert is suggesting a boycott of ExxonMobil. In addition, http://www.chumpedatthepump.com, is selling two different bumper stickers for consumers to send a message.
"It is time to wear our displeasure proudly on the bumpers of the very cars they are charging an arm and a leg to fill and take it a step further by encouraging everyone to buy their gas elsewhere. Maybe then the gougers will realize the American consumers are mad as heck and are not going to take this any more," Gansert said. "So don’t get chumped at the pump, just say no to ridiculous oil company profits. Express your freedom of speech and buying power. Let’s stand united and watch the prices at the pump drop."
