Teen Internet Phenomenon HABBO Passes 1.7 Million Unique Users

HABBO sites have been introduced in 18 countries, with more than 51 million Habbo characters created and more than 7.1 million unique users each month.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 16, 2006 -- HABBO, one of the world’s largest and hottest online destinations for teenagers, has just exceeded the mark of 1.7 unique users monthly on its popular U.S. site, www.habbo.com. It was announced today by Paul Thind, General Manager, Habbo USA. The site, a richly colorful and multi-dimensional virtual meeting place and game environment for teens, has grown tremendously since its introduction in 2000 by Sulake, Inc. an interactive entertainment company that specializes in developing, publishing and distributing multiplayer online communities and games. HABBO sites have since been introduced in 18 countries, with more than 51 million Habbo characters created and more than 7.1 million unique users each month.

Recently Habbo members have enjoyed major brand cross promotions, including a branded online “hang out” with Teen People magazine, and a series of online interactive version games highlighting the Olympic Games with NBC. In addition to branded promotions, regular visits from celebrities, musicians, and sports figures give Habbo members the opportunity to interact with their favorite stars.

Regional Marketing Director Melanie Hall commented, “Teens need outlets to express themselves. Interactivity’s their oxygen. Habbo gives them a voice and a chance to have fun. We mean it when we say ‘everyone can play.’”

Members join the site by creating a fully customized character called a Habbo. From there, they can explore many public hang outs, play a variety of games, connect with friends, decorate their own hotel rooms, and have fun through creativity and self expression. Users spend an average of more than three hours a week on Habbo (all statistics in this release from Nielsen Net Ratings).
