Travel Alberta Teams Up with A Couple of Chicks to Bring Clarity to Online Marketing

Online Travel Marketing Strategies were met with an overwhelming response as A Couple of Chicks traveled from Edmonton to Calgary to address the latest trends in marketing Canadian tourism online.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) June 20, 2006 -- Alberta Tourism professionals welcomed A Couple of Chicks to Edmonton, Jasper, Banff and Calgary this month to present emerging trends in e-marketing to a global online marketplace, with working examples of online marketing strategies for the tourism industry and beyond.

The 4-day tour of Alberta’s tourism hotspots brought over 220 representatives together from a cross section of Alberta’s tourism sector from Accommodations, to Tour Operators, to Associations, to Destination Marketing Organizations to address the shift in consumer marketing to include the online space.

Alberta Tourism Sales & Marketing Professionals Network
“Online marketing is a critical component in Travel Alberta’s marketing strategy,” says Glenda Myles, Director of Consumer Marketing, Travel Alberta In-Province. “We increasingly focus our marketing strategies to online components. And we continually work with, and encourage, our industry partners across the province to embrace this marketing channel and take full advantage of its benefits so that we can all benefit. A Couple of Chicks presented us with practical information, with their amazing enthusiasm for the subject, which we can take and use to move us forward.”

The interactive half-day e-marketing workshops addressed the newest online marketing trends as they relate to marketing Canadian Tourism products. Topics included how to shift a traditional marketing spend to include online opportunities, Website Usability, balancing online strategy to reach both the consumer and search engines alike, interactive discussions about emerging trends such as Blogging and RSS, the effect these trends will have on the travel consumer’s buying behavior, and recommendations for actionable steps that tourism marketers can take to compete in global online marketplace.

Coming off of the first annual Online Revealed - Canadian Travel Marketing Conference held last month in Ottawa, A Couple of Chicks are working to fulfill their mandate to bring together e-marketing and travel professionals from across the country, and to provide key takeaways for online marketing success back to the industry.

”The interactive online marketing workshops are a part of the approach that A Couple of Chicks e-marketing has taken to demystify marketing online,” says Chicks COO and Co-founder, Patricia Brusha. “We take a non-intimidating, actionable approach to marketing online and we hope that our successful model will assist businesses to leverage the reach that the Internet has created for marketers.”

The interactive e-marketing workshop was one in a series of sessions that Travel Alberta In-Province (TAIP) is bringing to Alberta’s tourism operators. This was the second seminar presented as part of the new “Alberta Tourism Sales & Marketing Professionals Network“ designed to provide Alberta’s Senior Sales & Marketing tourism and hospitality professionals an opportunity to meet, learn, and network.
