Women's Organization Makes A Difference

Women Of Wisdom helps soldiers in need overseas.

Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) June 25, 2006 -- WOW would like to announce the start of Project Support Our Soldiers (S.O.S). This project was started after a concerned mother contacted us about the lack of reading and movie material for soldiers in their Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) rooms at their Forward Operating Bases (FOB)in Asadabad, Afghanistan.

Many soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines call this FOB home and many more come through there on a regular basis to rest and relax between missions. Some of them just want one simple thing and that’s to sit and relax and watch a nice movie or curl up on the chair and read a book. There are great things being done here in Asadabad and the men and women at war here deserve this simple gift that will help them get through their long deployments. WOW is seeking donations of magazines, books, bibles, DVDs, CDs, CD Players, and other recreational items to send to these men and women. Though some of us do not support the war, we believe that we must support those who are out there fighting for their lives everyday regardless of our personal beliefs.

What WOW is doing is helping our fellow man, not necessarily supporting the war. Many soldiers have families here in the states, and hopefully with today’s technology, they can stay in contact with their families via dvds, and such.
When talking to Tara Lewis, Founder of Women of Wisdom (WOW) and the direction she is looking to go with Project S.O.S., she is very optimistic. “What WOW is doing is helping our fellow man, not necessarily supporting the war. Many soldiers have families here in the states, and hopefully with today’s technology, they can stay in contact with their families via dvds, and such.”

Women of Wisdom was founded in March 2006 by Tara Lewis and Domini Griffin. WOW strives to provide opportunities for women to enhance themselves emotionally, physically, spiritually, socially, and professionally.
