National Safety Council Recognizes Seafab Metals Company with Perfect Record Award

Seafab’s Casa Grande Unit honored for outstanding commitment to job safety.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) June 24, 2006 -- Employees with The Doe Run Company’s subsidiary, Seafab Metals Company-Casa Grande, were honored this month with a “Perfect Record Award” by the National Safety Council (NSC). The NSC presented the award, which is bestowed upon companies that achieve 12 consecutive months without a lost-time accident, during its annual Safety Awards Banquet in Atlanta on June 5.

“The organizations represented at the National Safety Council’s Safety Awards Banquet set the standard for what the Council considers to be ‘the best of the best’ in safety and safety performance,” said Alan C. McMillan, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “We applaud Seafab Metals Company’s commitment to keeping their employees safe while on the job, and thank them for their contributions to advancing workplace safety excellence.”

In addition to receiving the Perfect Record Award, the Seafab Casa Grande Unit recently marked 88 consecutive months – representing 650,000 hours on the job – without a lost-time accident.

“The Perfect Record Award is an outstanding accomplishment by an incredible group of people,” said Greg McClain, general manager of Seafab Metals Company. “I am extremely proud of their commitment to working safely each day. An achievement such as this means they are not only watching out for their own safety, but also that of their fellow workers.”

Seafab Metals Company is a division of Fabricated Products, Inc. (FPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Doe Run Company. In 1997, the fabricated metal segment of FPI relocated from Seattle to Casa Grande, Ariz., where it produces sheet lead for roof flashings; lead shielding used to block sound waves, X-rays and nuclear radiation; plates for lead anodes in the copper refining process; raw and semi-finished bullet materials; plus specialty extruded shapes for the plating and pollution control industries. The company also markets materials produced at Doe Run’s Herculaneum and Buick Resource Recycling facilities.

Based in St. Louis, The Doe Run Company is a privately held natural resources company dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral production, metals fabrication, recycling and reclamation. The company and its subsidiaries deliver products and services needed to provide power, protection
and convenience through premium products and associated metals including lead, zinc, copper, gold and silver.
