VideoRay LLC and BlueView Announce Largest Multibeam Sonar Purchase

VideoRay LLC and BlueView Technologies announced an agreement outlining the purchase for resale of 50 ProViewer 450 sonar systems. The agreement will result in the rapid deployment of revolutionary sonar technology to the more than 600 VideoRay users, and new customers of the companies’ cutting edge underwater inspection products.

Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) June 26, 2006 -- At the USCG Innovation conference VideoRay LLC and BlueView Technologies announced an agreement outlining the purchase for resale of 50 ProViewer 450 sonar systems. The agreement will result in the rapid deployment of revolutionary sonar technology to the more than 600 VideoRay users, and new customers of the companies’ cutting edge underwater inspection products.

VideoRay, the largest manufacturer of underwater inspection class ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), has been evaluating Multibeam technology as a tool for enhancing operations and navigation in low-visibility water. The BlueView ProViewer has been extensively tested by key customers in Port Security, Law Enforcement, and Commercial Diving environments, and has allowed users to accomplish previously difficult or impossible missions.

“Sonar technology is critical when visibility is low” said Scott Bentley, president of VideoRay. “The BlueView ProViewer 450 is the best tool in many cases for imaging in this environment. It acts like a ‘flashlight’ that cuts through the murk and allows users to locate and identify targets. Knowing where your ROV is and what’s out there are two of the most challenging issues for ROV operators. With this sonar, even new operators are able to easily navigate their ROV close enough for the video camera to inspect an area of interest.”

The BlueView ProViewer also provides advantages in water with good visibility. For example, hull searches for attached devices can be performed on tanker size vessels by “scanning” large swaths at a time. Protrusions and even details as small as weld seams can be observed from a greater distance than possible with visual detection alone.

“We work with several ROV manufacturers” said Lee Thompson, BlueView’s Chairman and Chief Technology Officer. “However, VideoRay clearly leads the pack in many ways, and we’re pleased and proud to have them as our largest customer and closest technology partner.”

VideoRay and BlueView collaboration were key to VideoRay’s impressive performance at the US Navy SPAWAR Systems Center’s HULSFEST ship hull inspection technology demonstration in March 2006. Details and data can be obtained from www.hulsfest.com .

About VideoRay
VideoRay now has far more Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) in service around the world than any manufacturer, and is delivering additional ROVs at an increasing rate. Weighing just 8 pounds and starting at $5995 USD, VideoRays can be equipped with sonar, positioning systems or other accessories, and are used for underwater surveys, offshore inspections, search and recovery, homeland defense, science, fish farming and a range of applications in underwater environments. In August, the General Services Administration (GSA) awarded VideoRay a contract to supply vehicles to the US government, making it easier and faster for many agencies to acquire one.
