(PRWEB) June 28, 2006 -- New York College of Health Professions (www.nycollege.edu) is proud to announce the registration of its new program in the Science of Self Improvement with the New York State Education Department. Lisa Pamintuan, the young President of the College, which has been a leader in Holistic Health and Education for over 25 years, says, "this program is vital for people in all walks of life."

The purpose of the program is to enhance the motivation of current or prospective employees by providing specialized training to reduce job-related stress and job-dissatisfaction. This type of training will enable persons seeking initial entry or re-entry into the workforce to get better jobs, and those already employed to advance in their jobs and increase their productivity and retention. One of the principal components of the program is the systematic strengthening of one's self esteem. Once this is achieved, not only is individual work performance improved but equally important the entire work environment including supervisors, peers and clients is also improved.

This 24 clock-hour program will draw its basic concepts and methodologies from a number of disciplines and skill areas including: psychology, sociology, speech, time management, the importance of personal appearance, dress and cosmetics, and a variety of other factors that may improve one's overall job performance.

The program also draws on the established techniques of holistic wellness and balance in maintaining a positive attitude in one's work environment contributing to an atmosphere in which people want to work. Other topics highlighted in the workshop include: fitness and exercise, nutrition, stress management, business etiquette, active listening, etc.

Ms. Pamintuan says that "after meeting with numerous groups from industry, hospitals and governmental agencies, I walked away stunned by the fact that practically 70% of people hate their jobs!" "This country has got to come to grips with the fact that in a global economy, happiness is linked to productivity and the United States must increase its productivity and retention of people in their jobs if it is to continue to be a leader in world markets," she concluded.

The College is also seeking to partner with employers by offering workshops on Self Improvement and testing the effect of the workshops on employees as well as the important ripple effect on their clients. The College is prepared to work aggressively with other institutions and companies during the research stages of this study. of its employees.

New York College is looking to initiate both regional and nationwide programs with key corporations that have the foresight to explore the promising linkage between the Science of Self Improvement and employee productivity.

The College is also working on a book entitled "The Science of Self Improvement" co-authored by Senator Michael Balboni and Barbara E. Carver. The book, in addition to covering new ground that will provide unique algorithms for people to monitor their personal growth, will also introduce a new technology in the field of textbooks.

This is an exciting time for the College. It is expanding in many directions and believes it has a distinct advantage over others in this area because it has close ties to proprietary technologies, corporations and distinguished visiting professors, in addition to its faculty.

The College will announce a series of programs with other institutions in the near future.

New York College of Health Professions is one of the leading colleges of holistic medicine in the United States offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Massage Therapy, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and a Certificate Program in Holistic Nursing.
