Asheville, NC (PRWEB) June 28, 2006 -- Ancient Sun Nutrition, Inc. a North Carolina nutritional supplement company, is sponsoring athletes toward greater physical health and endurance. In recent months, more requests have come to the company for product sponsorship as athletes learn how Aphanizomenon flos-aquae or ‘living flower of the water’ aids their physical pursuits.

AFA is a wild-harvested fresh water algae that grows in the unique ecosystem of Klamath Lake Oregon. AFA is known for its many health-promoting qualities, including healthier immune function, balanced metabolism, and increased energy and stamina.

This summer, hikers Gabriele Beland and David Cote take to the Pacific Coastal Trail with enough AFA to last the whole trip. Beland, who was first introduced to AFA at the annual San Francisco Green Festival, first contacted Ancient Sun about a sponsorship opportunity when she realized the importance of food on the trail. She and David both believe that a daily dose of AFA will help them reach their goal.

In Southern California, the eight-man team for Donate For Life begins their trek for the Race Across America similarly prepared. Measuring 3052 miles, the race begins at Oceanside, CA, and one week later, participants cross the finish line in Atlantic City NJ at the famous Boardwalk.

“I contacted Ancient Sun because I take AFA myself and feel it would benefit the other riders not to mention the overall health of the team,” explains Johnathan Boyer, an avid cyclist and owner of Boyer Sports, who won the race in 1985. He will be going for the record again this year.

Approaching its fifth year, Ancient Sun has experienced 100% growth in the past year. CEO Clive Adams comments on the growth, “Its clear that consumers are becoming more informed in their healthcare choices. AFA offers them the chance to be healthier, happier individuals. For athletes, there is no other green supplement that offers the same benefits.”
