Will Langhorne Joins Porsche Michelin Supercup Series; Debut this Weekend at US Grand Prix with Germany’s Team MRS

Molitor Racing Systems (Team MRS) today announced that American driver Will Langhorne will race for the German motorsports syndicate for the remainder of this year’s prestigious Porsche Michelin Supercup series. There will be several Americans racing at the USGP; however, Langhorne will be the sole American in the four remaining Grand Prix stops of the hyper-competitive Supercup championship.

Washington, DC & Stuttgart, Germany (PRWEB) June 30, 2006 -- Molitor Racing Systems (Team MRS) today announced that American driver Will Langhorne will race for the German motorsports syndicate for the remainder of this year’s prestigious Porsche Michelin Supercup series. In his first appearance in the Formula 1 support series since 2002, Langhorne will make his debut this weekend at the US Grand Prix in Indianapolis racing in Team MRS’s Sanitec Industries and Dell sponsored #15 car. Sanitec and Dell will be title sponsors of Team MRS’s number 15 car for the remainder of the 2006 season. There will be several Americans racing at the USGP; however, Langhorne will be the sole American in the four remaining Grand Prix stops of the hyper-competitive Supercup championship. “I am very excited to be back racing in the Porsche Michelin Supercup Series with a great team like Molitor Racing and title sponsors Sanitec Industries and Dell Computers,” said Langhorne. And it’s a thrill to be teaming in the US rounds with Johnny Herbert, a driver who is as funny as he is fast,” Langhorne said. “I’m particularly grateful to Karsten Molitor and Team MRS’s terrific group of professionals and their sponsors for the honor of racing for them for the remainder of the season,” Langhorne said. “We are looking forward to our race overseas in the USA and are very proud to have an American driver. We hope that we can fulfil the expectations of the sponsors and have remarkable results at the races. We are also happy that Will is joining our team for the rest of this season,” said Mr. Molitor. In 1997, at the age of 23, Langhorne scored two Porsche GT3 wins racing in Hockenheim, Germany. And in 2002, fresh off his rookie season in the Indy Racing League, Langhorne competed in the Supercup series for the top ranked Kadach Tuning + Service team out of Germany. Porsche 911 GT3s are race-modified versions of Porsche’s flagship 911 sports car. Since 1993 the Supercup has run as support to the European Formula 1 rounds, with the first overseas race being added to the calendar in 1999.
