Kattack today announced the release of version 1.0 of its Regatta Performance Race Player. After over 50 races and a very enthusiastic Beta program in May and June, the launch of the first ever sailing performance application targeting fleet racing, match racing and regattas successfully happened at noon.
“This technology has only recently been available at the Americas Cup”, said Tom Verburgt, President and founder of Kattack and avid racer. “Sailing is one of the only sports in the world that lacks the advantage of game film. With all the preparation that goes into sailing at the highest levels, not to mention the cost that accompanies success, when the race is over you really don’t have any data on how you performed other than how you finished. Plus, it’s great fun in the clubhouse after the race.”
The Kattack Performance App™ uses GPS telemetry to plot location, speed, polars and other performance data of an entire fleet of boats during a race. This information is presented in the player available for free on http://www.kattack.com. Once the race day is over a replay usually takes place at the clubhouse for entertainment or leveraged during a “chalk talk” debriefing at major events by experts in the field.
Founded in 2006, Kattack is the leader in sailing performance applications and service. By bringing state of the art tracking technology and performance analytics to the sport of sailing, Kattack helps sailors answer the question, “How can I improve my performance”?
