London, UK (PRWEB) July 5, 2006
A glittering Bollywood party, royal white-tie banquet and cocktail reception with the Maharana of Mewari are just some of the features on the itinerary of a stunning private royal tour of India organised by Royal Connections. Limited to just 20 people, the tour will embark on the nine-day trip on 2 November 2006.
Royal Connections is a collaboration between the London Debutante Season and WEXAS, the Knightsbridge-based traveller’s club. The organisation has previously run tours for those affiliated with the London Season and this is the first time they have opened the opportunity to luxury travellers wishing to mix with the cream of society in the destinations they journey to. The India trip is the next tour available to book, highlights of which include:
· tiffin served by private butlers and delivered by the world-famous Dabbawallas, as recently used by the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall
· a white tie formal Indian banquet attended by Indian royals and dignitaries in the Room of the Princes, where the last Viceroy of India signed the treaty ending British rule
· a match between a London XI and Bombay XI at the world famous Cricket Club of India, hosted by Ashok Kanwar, the chocolate tycoon, and attended by leading members of Bombay society
· a Bollywood party at the private home of Yash Chopra, doyen of the Indian film world, and attended by film stars, socialites and members of the royal family
· a cocktail reception and dinner hosted by His Highness the 75th Maharana of Mewari at his 15th century City Palace – the oldest palace in India – as well as a private dinner at his hunting lodge in Udaipur
· the opportunity to view a special exhibition of items from the new Louis Vuitton collection and a fashion show featuring some of India’s best dress designers
Accommodation on the tour is in some of the finest hotels in India, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the Oberoi Udai Villas and the Imperial Hotel in Delhi. Also included are flights with British Airways and all meals.
Places on the tour are available from £9,699 per person, from which a donation will be made to the Bombay children’s charity organised by the Maharana of Mewari. The tour departs from London Heathrow Airport on 2 November 2006.
Travel arrangements for the tour are being handled by WEXAS, the travel club with over 35 years of experience in tailor-making holidays for its members. Honorary presidents of the club include Sir Ranulph Feinnes, Michael Palin and John Simpson.
Royal Connections was founded by Mrs David Hallam-Peel and Mrs Jonathan Woodall, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the London Debutante Season as a vehicle for extending the charitable work of that organisation. Previous tours have visited Italy, Morocco, Montenegro and Egypt and have raised significant sums for charities operating in these countries.
Further Royal Connections tours are planned for 2007, the next being to Oman.
