Classic Cars and Ken Schrader Interview on 1510 AM The Zone of Boston's Weekend Thunder NASCAR Show July 9

Weekend Thunder will broadcast live from the Bay State Antique Auto Club's 35th Annual Car Show at the Endicott Estate in Dedham, Mass. on Sunday, June 9, and during the show will interview NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Ken Schrader by phone

BURLINGTON, MASS. (PRWEB) July 7, 2006 -- This Sunday, July 9, Weekend Thunder hits the road once again to broadcast live from the Bay State Antique Auto Club’s 35th annual Antique Auto Show, Car Corral, and Trading Bee at the Endicott Estate in Dedham, Mass. Weekend Thunder, Boston’s only pre-race radio show on the region’s only NASCAR station—1510 AM The Zone—will start its remote broadcast at 11 AM and will count down to the start of the NASCAR Nextel Cup USG Sheetrock 400 from Chicagoland Speedway. The Weekend Thunder post-race show will immediately follow the conclusion of the race.

According to www.bsaac.com, 800 to 1000 show cars, over 250 corral vendors, 150 flea market vendors, and nearly 10,000 spectators are expected to attend the day long event at 656 East Street in Dedham. Besides discussing all the news from the NASCAR world, Weekend Thunder will talk cars with several special guests present at the show and will have giveaways available at the booth.

“I grew up around hot rods so I know that a lot of car enthusiasts are NASCAR fans and vice versa,” said Weekend Thunder co-host Greg “Dr. Spooky” Lucas. “It should be a lot of fun to bring those two worlds together for a few hours on Sunday.”

Also joining Weekend Thunder via phone from Chicago will be Ken Schrader, driver of the No. 21 Ford Fusion on the Nextel Cup Series. Schrader, a native of Fenton, Mo. will discuss his 2006 season as well as his upcoming trip to New England to compete in the Vermont Governor’s Cup 100 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt. on July 13.

A longtime veteran of NASCAR’s top tour, Schrader has four victories on the circuit as well as hundreds of trophies from local short tracks and series around the country. A racer at heart, more often than not Schrader can be found any night of the week at a racetrack somewhere in the country plying his craft. Recently his exploits have been put to paper in an autobiography entitled Gotta Race! written with Joyce Standridge and available from Coastal 181 Publishing out of Newburyport, Mass.

Weekend Thunder is Boston’s only local NASCAR show on the region’s only NASCAR station— WWZN 1510 AM The Zone. Each Sunday at 11 AM hosts Bob MacKinnon, Greg “Dr. Spooky” Lucas, and April Barker talk racing, take listener calls, conduct an on-air race picking contest, and occasionally welcome guests from the racing world. Troy Germain, meanwhile, hosts the Weekend Thunder post race show following The Zone’s coverage of each NASCAR Nextel Cup event.
