Spannerworks Makes Two Senior Hires

SEO firm Spannerworks has made two senior hires: CTO Paul Doleman and Head of Content and Media Antony Mayfield. Paul will be developing the company's pay per click (PPC) capability and new technolgies, while Antony will be establishing a new PR, social media and content focussed practice in the company.

(PRWEB) July 8, 2006 -- Search marketing firm Spannerworks has announced two senior appointments.

Paul Doleman has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer and will take charge of the company's development of new software and services as well as expanding the capabilities of existing Spannerworks applications, such as its Aperture tracking tool.

Coming to the firm from rival search firm Latitude, where he was Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Paul has 20 years' experience in technology, management and product development.

Antony Mayfield will join Spannerworks in the newly created role of Head of Content and Media. He comes to the company from Harvard, a technology media and telecom (TMT) specialist firm in Bell Pottinger Group, the UK's number one PR firm, where he was a Director.

His brief will be to develop new services and tools for media, marketing and communications firms and in-house teams wanting to make the most of search engines and social media -- such as blogs, wikis and online communities -- in their campaigns.

A ten year veteran of the PR industry, Antony Mayfield, has worked with clients including O2, Vodafone, PlayStation and Fujitsu Services and is well known for his writing about technology and PR both in a weekly column for trade magazine PR Business and his blog Open (Minds, Finds, Conversations).

Arjo Ghosh, CEO of Spannerworks, said:
"Search engine marketing's growing at a tremendous pace, and it is also colliding with other forms of marketing communications. Where our focus was purely ecommerce a few years ago, now we need to be talking to people about blogs, social networks, reputation management and online PR. By hiring Antony Spannerworks is making an emphatic statement: we are going to be at the forefront of innovation in online PR and marketing in Europe."

Paul Doleman, CTO at Spannerworks said:
"Search engine marketing is moving very quickly from being a numbers game to one where creativity is going to be very important indeed. Spannerworks understands that and that's why I wanted to be part of this next phase in its development."

Antony Mayfield, Head of Content and Media at Spannerworks said:
"When good search engine rankings are important to your reputation as being on the front page of a newspaper, corporate communications needs to take note. At the moment we're talking about the marriage of PR and search engine optimisation (SEO) -- a couple of years from now it will just be the same thing."
