Capella University's Dr. Nancy A. Piotrowski Named President-Elect of Apa Division 50 on Addictions
Dr. Piotrowski is a core faculty member in the online university’s general psychology program.

Piotrowski, a core faculty member in the online university’s general psychology program, has been named president-elect of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Division 50-Addictions. The APA, which consists of 56 divisions, is the largest psychological association worldwide.
Dr. Piotrowski will serve for three years in a volunteer capacity at the national level beginning in August 2006. In her three years of service, she will serve as the president-elect, president, and then past-president, respectively, and will be on the executive board of the division each year. She has previously served as a member at large for Division 50 and also Division 28 (Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse).
APA Division 50 focuses on addictions, more specifically the psychology of addictive behavior. Division 50 promotes advances in research, professional training, and clinical practice. Division 50’s focus includes problematic addictive behavior surrounding alcohol, nicotine, and other drugs, as well as disorders involving gambling, eating, sexual behavior and spending.
Dr. Piotrowski previously served as the faculty chair of the Harold Abel School of Psychology’s addiction specialization at Capella University, and has been a core faculty member since April of 2000. She joined the online university in December of 1998 as an adjunct faculty member.
