Visa USA, Pay By Touch, Telecheck, and BluePay are just a few of those companies slated to attend the Bankcard Career and Job Fair to vie for new merchant services sales and management talent. Catering to professionals with experience in sales, customer support, operations, and IT, this event promises benefits for both employers and job-seekers and will be held July 18th, from 4:30-8:30 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. The event, sponsored by the not-for-profit Midwest Acquirers Association, is the first of its kind- designed to bring together the top Merchant Services providers with those seeking careers in the merchant bankcard services industry.

Mark Dunn, President of the Bankcard Career and Job Fair’s hosting organization, the Midwest Acquirers Association (MWAA), explained why merchant service companies were eager to attend the event:

“The MWAA is dedicated to improving the merchant services industry by providing both information about the credit card industry as well as venues in which real professionals can network. This is simply another extension of that effort. Those who attend will be the motivated, those with the drive to seek career improvement- in short, the cream of the young ISO talent. Companies in the merchant services clearly recognize the opportunity presented by attending. The event targets a specific type of employee profile, one that the top companies are seeking in an employee: people with a passion for the credit industry; a drive to better one’s own career skill set; and a dedication to excellence in communication and sales skills.

Dunn also emphasized the unique nature of this event:

“Representatives who attend the Bankcard Career and Job Fair will have the opportunity to meet potential employees in a social selling environment rather than the usual sterile atmosphere of an interview. They can see what these young prospects look like interacting with the public and gather information on them based on how they actually behave when presented with a true sales opportunity: selling themselves.”

With over twenty different major industry providers attending this atmosphere may be daunting, but benefits for merchant service career seekers are worthwhile. In an industry based on interpersonal communication skills, the Bankcard Career and Job Fair (http://www.bankcardjobfair.com) gives the merchant services job-seeker the perfect platform to showcase his skill set.

Steve, an attendee from Milwaukee, WI with 2 ½ years in the bankcard industry, explains:

“When I heard that the MWAA was holding a job fair for credit industry professionals I knew I had to go. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to network with other professionals in the credit industry one on one. In most sales situations you’re lucky to get ten minutes with the customer; this event allows me to be exposed to employers for four hours. Add that with the training available in the following days and I’ll get the most valuable career development time I’ve seen in the merchant service industry in the last decade.”

In addition to insuring that the top Merchant Service providers will attend the MWAA is providing valuable door prizes from Apple, Compaq, Bose, Sony, and Olympus ranging from laptops to gift cards.

The Fair is one part of a four-day cycle of events centered on the Fourth Annual Conference of the MWAA, July 18-21, 2006 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. While the Fair is open to all job seekers, the remainder of the MWAA conference requires paid registration by bankcard industry professionals at http://www.midwestacquirers.com, official website of the MWAA.

Pre-registration is necessary to win prizes and can be done online at the Bankcard Career and Job Fair website http://www.bankcardjobfair.com. Bankcard employers who want to participate should contact Mark Dunn, MWAA president, via email for sign-up.

The Bankcard Career and Job Fair is officially sponsored by the Midwest Acquirers Association, a not-for-profit, no-membership, independent forum dedicated to the merchant bankcard services industry. The mission of the MWAA is to provide a regional opportunity for training, education and networking in the Midwest bankcard acquiring community.
